Burgundy Center for Wildlife Studies Linen Rental?

Anonymous
Has anyone whose kid has gone to Burgundy Center for Wildlife Studies summer camp done the linen rental they have? Curious if it is something most campers do, or if nobody does it because the blankets / sheets are scratchy etc. It would be great to not have to pack sheets/blankets, etc. in the camp baggage, but would love some feedback.

Any other items not on the packing list that your kid found great to have when they went?

Thank you!

My two kids have gone to the Burgundy Center for Wildlife Studies camp for multiple summers (and will go again this summer). I didn't even know that they had a linen rental. I don't think many campers do this, but I'm sure it's fine. Such a great camp!

DD went there for years and was a counselor for a couple years. She always brought her own bedding.

One really important piece is a very good rain jacket (on the packing list) and waterproof boots + wool socks (don't think this is specifically on the list but absolutely worth bringing vs. sneakers). They are outside rain or shine. DD lamented last year that her rain jacket didn't hold up to the torrential downpours they had during the overnight camping trip. Once her feet stopped growing we'd invested in expensive, high quality hiking boots that she treats annually to reinforce the water resistance. Those did hold up to the rain.

I don't know anything about the linen rental program, but we LOVE Burgundy! My daughter will be back there again this summer and is looking forward to it.

I think the linen rental was mostly a convenience for the kids who came from over seas or by plane from the west coast. I’m sure it’s available to anyone who wants it and it’s just ordinary sheets. If it’s easier for you, go for it. Depending on your camper’s age, one extra soft fleece blanket or stuffie is fine too. Don’t send a “most precious” one; it’s camp. Fun, warm, living outside lots place.

Sturdy shoes for hiking, or sneakers as mentioned, but an easy slip on sandal or crock sort of thing for a bathroom trip is good too.
