Sienna School vs Field

Any parents on here with students who attend either. Would like to know about community, learning support and college admin process. Thanks!

If your kid needs Sienna then run from Field. They will happily enroll your kid in a vacant spot but …It will be death by a thousand cuts.

Siena offers specialized instruction for students with learning disabilities. Field offers basic accommodations for students who are at grade level.

I don't see these schools as comparable. If you are considering Siena, then I would not see Field as a suitable choice for your child.

NP. If a student needs the supports that Siena provides, Field might admit them but won’t be able to meet their needs.

NP. If a student needs the supports that Siena provides, Field might admit them but won’t be able to meet their needs.

Field provides accommodations, Sienna has the OG tutoring built into the reading class daily.

We were told my child would have wonderful accommodations at Field (during the admissions and acceptance process). It was awful. It took months for them to provide an accommodations document and my DS had to almost argue with every teacher when he needed to use them (extra time on tests, chunking assignments). Field says they'll do it then don't (we aren't the only ones who had this experience). This was three years ago. We only stayed a year.

Was that MS or high school? Sorry to hear that.

We also had that experience (in MS). Extra time wasn't a problem, but getting any other accommodation, or even just a basic understanding of executive function needs, was over promised and underdelivered.

Parents love setting their children up to fall so they lie and hide issues then get mad when their child isn't thriving.
