Looking at the document i posted, this is not correct. It says "infants and toddlers" under the section for "under 2"- so toddlers cannot be 2.

And the ratio for a group of 2 year olds is 1:6 while 1:3 for infants and 1:3 for toddlers.

I never saw 5 teachers in 15 toddler room. Only 3, all kids are under 2. Sometimes there is additional assistant during meal times, but never ever 5 people.

Maryland ratios used to be

6 weeks to 18 months -- 3:1 maximum group size of 6

18 months to 24 months -- 3:1 maximum group size of 9

24 - 36 months -- 6:1 maximum group size of 12

Usually that 18 to 24 months is what's referred to as toddler, even though the room above it and below it in age have kids who would be considered toddlers.

I think it's still the same, but it's been a few years since I've looked into it.

Our under-2s room only had 6 kids and so 2 teachers at all times (+ floater at times). There are also 9-kid rooms and they have 3 teachers.

15 kids under 2 all together is enormous and sounds like chaos.

Not sure where to find it officially but DC ratio is 1:4. We live by the border and looked in MD and DC.

Where did you end up? If I’m reading the charts correctly it looks like there’s actually smaller ratios for DC?
