stupid question

Would a teacher find sending $40 for the book fair with your child offensive when you've only given them a $25 gift card for teacher appreciation day? I might be overthinking.

They don’t care.

I think you’re overthinking. I’ve volunteered at book fairs and the kids at those book fairs made their own purchases. Most likely the teacher won’t have any contact with the money or have any idea of how much you sent (unless your child loses it and complains to the teacher, who won’t be able to do anything about it).

$25 is a fine gift for an individual family to give a teacher. I don’t know what school system you’re in, but MCPS has a $20 limit on gifts. In the future, you might consider donating to a class gift instead of giving individually. I think it’s better for many reasons, including questions like this.

I wouldn’t ever put those things together. I’m happy if my students are getting books!
