DC Prek Lottery Waitlist number in the context of total waitlist spots offered

Anonymous
We just received our lottery results, and to say we're upset is an understatement. Please share your waitlist number when you were offered a spot (or not offered) and the school. For instance, I am number 23 at schools that typically release 6-10 seats; does this mean I have no chance? The school isn't top-tier, so I doubt it's number one on many lists since there are better schools within a 2-mile radius.

They usually make more offers than spaces--like if they have 10 seats to fill they may make 13 offers. It usually takes more offers as we get later into the school year--like in May someone doesn't have to think hard about accepting an offer, but once the kid already started school in September more families will turn down a waitlist offer.

Also your waitlist number can get worse as people move in-bounds, siblings enroll, etc.
