Toured both. Anyone with experience at either or who made this choice—I would love to hear your thoughts. |
$87k vs $43k ($68k OOS)? I'm inclined to go with the later.

What area of focus? |
Boy or girl? Know 2 boys who left WF recently-if you aren’t Greek inclined it can be a miserable social experience, esp for a boy. |
Boy. Thats interesting. |
Non affiliated males can have a tough time at heavily Greek schools. Whereas non affiliated girls are welcome at most parties. |
very similar, W&M slightly more intellectual, Wake sl more sports /pro-greek but both are excellent schools that based on smartness of students are T25ish. |
How is wake for someone who is trans? |
I agree. And W&M more diverse, while WF more preppy/wealthy. The vibes are different but there are similarities. These were my top two choices many years ago! Picked W&M because couldn’t beat that in-state tuition. |
^^ transgender woman (biological boy) |
Wake is more social and has far better sports, both of which were very important to my kid. I think W & M class sizes aren’t bad, but Wake keeps them small from day one, even introductory classes (classes sizes range from 10 to 50 for my STEM freshman), all taught by professors. If cost is deciding factor and you are in state for William and Mary, that’s an obvious choice. |
I would not chose any school in North Carolina for a trans kid given state politics. |
Part of this is also true for W&M (small class sizes and all taught by professors). |
But why. As prey? Heavy Greek is not pleasant for either group of non-participants I suspect. |
