Rip Skirt? What do you think?

Anonymous
Thinking about trying these. Any thoughts? I'm 5'6". I feel like length #1 (15") would be too short for my bird-like skinny legs. But, length #2 (19") seems a bit long/dowdy.

Anyone have experience with the fabric and fit of the rip skirt?

So ugly. Hard pass.

So you have an opinion, but not actual experience. Thanks.

I would go with #1 since at your height #2 is going to be a little longer.

I agree both lengths are a bit off. I don’t own one but if you have nice legs, I’d go for the shorter! Or, maybe you could take an inch off the longer one?

I would go on a combo of your age, your knees and your calves. I agree with you that #1 seems short, but #2 could see long depending on your age. I also notice in the photos on their site that #2 varies depending on height, but I don't see heights given. Some #2s look shorter than others.

I wear skirts like those all the time with t-shirts. love them.

I had a similar skirt from Carve Designs made of what I think is the same water-sheding fabric. I never loved the feel of the synthetic fabric in summer. But I liked how it looked and I also like the Rip Skirt.

I'd just order it in both lenghts and see how they look on you.

These skirts on Etsy are more expensive but can also be ordered in different lenghts. Don't know if they're your style or not - https://www.etsy.com/shop/erinmacleod?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=1566426206&from_page=listing§ion_id=17973612

I live in them when I'm on vacation. I'm 5'2 and I buy length 2. It hits me above my knees and I'm happy with that.

I have three. I'm 5'5"" and #2 hits just above my knee. I love them for travel and for wearing over my swimsuit at the beach. The wrap style adjusts to fit your waist. Love them.

So I had to google “rip skirts” because I never heard of them. Do you simply want these for a beach coverup? I saw an older person (probably my age) riding a bike in them. I prefer board shorts.

I’m 5’7” and I have the medium length one. It is comfortable, high quality, and easy to wear but frumpy. I feel like it ages me 10 years so I don’t really wear it.

OP here ---

UGG. That is what I'm worried about. I'm 55, but most would think I'm 45. 123 lbs. No gray. Slender/straight body type. I would want it to wear in the summer instead of shorts... just to look put together and comfortable. Not necessarily to wear with a swimsuit, since I pretty much go from the pool (lap swimming) to the shower. I don't spend time at outdoor pools unless I'm on vacay -- which doesn't happen much. So, I'd just like it for hot summer days. But, all the old/chubby people in their ads kind of turns me off. And it seems like many of them are wearing a size that is too big for them --- droopy and dowdy. I like having options other than shorts though...

I would be considering a version that is above the knee and one that is the longest version (for going out to dinner or something).

PP. I'm 53. You are thinner than I am, so that would help. But the cut and fabric are just ... old-lady-on-the-golf-course ... but with more beach themed prints. I think you put your finger on something here that I hadn't figured out; the skirts look like they are a size too big, even when they fit. It's something about the cut. I don't know. It really is droopy and dowdy. But I think if you try the shorter one, it might work. They are super casual, so not sure I'd wear one to dinner unless it was at a beach resort or something. These are convenient, casual and comfortable. They are not stylish or even attractive in any way. I only bought one because I was going to St Lucia and I'm overweight and have trouble finding options. I think you can do better.

So you’re hot not at all like the frumps you compare yourself with but have worse taste.
