I hate dog owners

Anonymous
Came home to find dog shit on my front yard.

I'm so tired of dog owners who don't pick up after their dog, leave bags on the side of paths, let their dog run off leash in public parks, use retractable leashes, let their dogs bark and bark, and aren't considerate in pulling their dog to the side when approaching others.

I don't understand how people can be so inconsiderate. Why are so many dog owners so awful?!

To be fair, only about 50-75% suck.

Life long dog owner who has never done any of these things. Your title should be that you hate inconsiderate people.

Thank you for not doing those things. But you are unusual, as 90% of dog owners are entitled, inconsiderate jerks.

No, 90% of people around here are entitled inconsiderate jerks. Not all of them own pets.

FWIW I hate the cat owners who let their cats roam around. I don't want the stupid cat in my yard. Keep it inside.

I live on a street full of dog owners who don't do any of things OP lists. I don't let my dog do these things either, and I always pull my dog away from others we encounter on sidewalks - I don't want him to bother people, particularly the elderly or kids in strollers, because he's bouncy.

Your math confusion, OP, comes from the fact that it only takes a few dog-owners to ruin the experience for an entire neighborhood. Dogs poop several times a day. The poo can stay on the ground for weeks. Imagine that 30% of your neighborhood owns one dog. If 90% of dogs did what you claim they do, your property near the public right of way would be eternally covered in dog poo. You'd be walking in poo everywhere you went!

So no, your math doesn't work out.
It's amazing what math can do to make you understand what's actually happening!

It's the weekly "I hate dogs, they sh!t on lawns and the etiquette-less owners do nothing" thread.

That may be partially true, but the inconsiderate jerk numbers are particularly high among dog owners.

For example:
- 90% of Toyota drivers are not inconsiderate
- 90% of cat owners are not inconsiderate
- 90% of redheads are not inconsiderate
- 90% of people who live in apartments are not inconsiderate
- 90% of people who have an android phone are not inconsiderate

MANY people are inconsiderate, but the "thing" that makes them so, is spread out. It is especially concentrated among dog owners. If they're not on a long leash, then they're peeing in someone's yard.

Wow. That sounds highly scientific and accurate. No problem with imaginary statistics here.

This is actually not a bad troll post overall - you hit multiple trigger points and do it concisely. This thread will probably get some traction and you'll be able to give it more life if you come back with more feeding occasionally.

But, lets see how it all unfolds and how many decided to take the bait!

Should be fun, Good work!

It could be a troll because people do indeed love to complain about this stuff. But sadly I've encountered these behaviors regularly enough that I tend thing that it's more likely that OP did in fact come home to a pile of dog $hit in their yard and felt the need to rant about inconsiderate dog owners, because that sort of thing does in fact happen with enough frequency to make it very plausible it happened to OP.

I think it's really only about 30-40% of dog owners who are like this, though I also think that number is rising because so many people adopted dogs for the first time during the pandemic and IME the newer dog owners are much more likely to be really rude and inconsiderate. Maybe just everyone is ruder than they used to be, or maybe people who previously wouldn't have been able to get a dog due to work were able to do so during WFH, and inevitably a higher percentage of that group are crap dog owners. Hard to say, but I'm not the only one who has noticed this.

There are many people who are somehow special and that special makes them get a dog.
I have acquaintances who have a cat and many-many guinea pigs in a small condo. The cat and guinea pigs have million toys. They would not have any of the animal and their crap if they were not special people. Their words.

Which only highlight severity of this issue.

Awful people are awful, having a pet doesn't decrease their awfulness, it only makes them a bigger problem for others.

Shrug...maybe this happens where you live, but I live in a suburb with lots of dog owners and I rarely encounter this behavior. BTW, there are a lot of different types of animal poop. What you think is dog poop may not always be dog poop. In my neighborhood, we have deer, foxes, raccoons, and other animals. Fox poop, in particular, can look like dog poop. Take a look below at different types of animal poop to get an idea of what they look like.
