Key bridge in Baltimore collapses after cargo ship crashes into it

This is absolutely horrifying! Hoping that the casualties are limited, although it appears some vehicles fell into the river

I just read about it. How awful. I hope there are some survivors. My heart goes out to anyone who was injured or killed.

What the hell happened on that freighter? I hope they have to take full responsibility. Thank goodness it happened at 1:30AM which limited the casualties. I’m so angry about this.

I can’t believe this. It’s horrible. I hope the people who fell in are rescued. That is a significant thoroughfare through Baltimore.

That water is not exactly the warmest this time of the year.

I can’t believe the state of our infrastructure is so bad that this would take out the WHOLE bridge. God bless the people who were driving on it at the time, there’s no way they will pull many survivors out of the river

A massive container ship that apparently lost power rammed one of the key bridge supports. No amount of infrastructure spend would have prevented this. We need to find out what happened on that ship which was apparently being piloted by a local person based on comments I read in WaPo.

I do not want to sound obnoxious but every single time I am traveling on a bridge over water I am always on alert and anticipate that I could end up in the water at any moment.

Unfortunately we didn't spend any infrastructure money to make bridges impenetrable to collision from ships.

Same, it's a massive fear of mine. I actually wind down my window so I can get out if my car ends up in the water.
It's even worse now that I'm always driving with my toddler in her car seat in the back seat..

So sorry for those people who were on the bridge, it happened so quick

Some are reporting 20 maintenance workers in the bridge when it collapsed.

I do too. Back in the day I lived in San Francisco and commuted over the Golden Gate Bridge daily. I used to race across it stupidly thinking that I could outrun an earthquake if it hit while I was on the bridge. That was before the other Bay Area bridge collapsed.
