They said invites to training would be sent within 2 weeks. Not quite 2 weeks yet but anyone hearing anything yet? |
Nope. I asked about it this evening and nada |
anyone here on a current potomac ecnl team with thoughts on how the first year went? quality of coaching, caliber of play and opponents, roster sizes, development? |
and per the title of the post, interested in boys side. thanks! |
The information is available online. It is on the encl schedule and standing page. It lists everything you want to know. |
Slow start for our 09 boys Answer to everything else is typical average dmv |
DS was very interested in playing with friends on the 08 boys but he has heard from a few that it’s been a bit of a struggle. Pre-ECNL they were a powerhouse team but now they have lost many of the best players to MLS Next teams. However, being the only ECNL club in MoCo, not doubt they will attract top talent. |
I wouldn’t go as far as no doubt. Potomac has squandered multiple opportunities over the years on both the boys and girls sides to step out of mediocrity. MoCo is a large market. I wish them luck. Bethesda has too much a monopoly. |
Well, the team many of them went to is struggling, so "best" and "elite" as usual are subjective and overused. |
Mediocre coaching, atmosphere not very collegial. |
This week is spring break so they are off. Also, they were preparing for Jeff cup last week so that would not have been ideal to train. Lastly we just started the season, so time will tell how they do. Competition seems to be better than EDP division 1. |
Tell me more… |
The ID sessions seemed well run and the coaches were paying attention to all trialists, moving through the field and asking people’s name. Much better than some true cattle calls we’ve witnessed. |
Agreed. It was nice to see honestly. Some places are so poorly run it's painful |
Coaches vary greatly and the roster sizes are too big. They are promising smaller roster sizes next year. |
