Seeking OB Recommendations from CWC in DC for Planned C-Section

Anonymous
I’m 25 weeks pregnant and going to Capital Women’s Care on L Street. Due to a medical reason, I need to have a planned c-section. Any recommendations for an OB who’s great at c-sections? And can you actually pick your OB for a planned c-section?”

You can —- who have you been seeing since your 25 weeks I imagine several providers? All the OBs are great - go with someone you jive with.

I had a great experience with O’Brien. Much better than my first with another provider.

I had a scheduled c section with Dr. Napoleon toward end of March and it went well.

You can sort of pick your doctor for a planned c section, but it’s probably worth realizing that you can never plan how a birth will go- even with a scheduled c-section. It will depend who is on the schedule for the timeframe that you are scheduling it (I wanted one doctor at CWC that I’d seen that wasn’t on the schedule for my 39-40 week timeframe). Also, if your planned c section is significantly delayed like mine was (5+ hours) because of emergency c-sections that understandably bump it, then the doctor you thought you’d have might end their shift and you’d get the one that is next on the schedule.

Dr Schichor did a wonderful job with my c-section. I imagine they are all highly trained so go with the one you feel most comfortable with.
