Eclipse warnings?

Anonymous
My family still lives in Texas and confirm that they’ve been told by local authorities to stock up on water, canned food, batteries, etc before the eclipse. I sorta wrote off all the chatter before I heard this from my brother’s mouth. Anyone with a scientific background able to help me understand why this event may be different than those prior?

This is not a “doom” posting and I’m not looking to argue about whether or not these warnings are being issued. I’m genuinely just curious about what could set this occurrence apart.

They're in the path of totality and the grid may be affected because of the lack of sunlight for the solar components.

It's a Cover Your A** announcement, there won't be any problems. What do you think happens every night?

The total eclipse lasts less than 5 minutes. What do they do in Texas on cloudy days?

More people will be in Texas than it can handle. It will put a strain on resources.

Sort of like when they warned us about Obama’s inauguration.

Because Texas’ grid is a POS.

Because people are nuts.

No. It's not a period of the year where the grid is strained to begin with. They can absolutely handle 10s of thousands of extra visitors.

This is like the Y2K stupidity. Nothing's going to happen.

It's fine in early April.

There will be many continuous hours of traffic jams, that's the issue. So, if you're planning to go eat, get gas, grocery shop, daily errands..., you'll likely have trouble finding things, not to mention add to the traffic. Texas also loves to overstate warnings and get people anxious and prepped. It will pass with few issues and everyone will laugh that they didn't need all these supplies after all.

It is quite possibly more than 10’s of thousands of individuals. It may run into the millions.

I am here in the zone of totality. Many districts are cancelling school that day. It is nuts.

I am on the outer edge of totality (3 mins rather than the 4.5 mins in the middle) so it won't be too crazy here and my kids will be in school though they are taking them all outside for it(!). But the small towns in the middle of the zone are warning about cell phone service, traffic, etc. due to the influx of people that day. There are lots of "festivals" happening on private land and ranches as well.

For one state? No, I really don't think so.

It's not just Texas.

The reason being they don't want any traffic deaths from people driving and not paying attention. It's also a fear event. That's why the warnings are going out. Demons love that loosh.

So there you go. A planned scare event. And you don't need those stupid glasses. The sun is fake. FAKE FAKE FAKE.

I don’t know. Everyone I know who is going is going to Texas because their weather has the best chance of seeing.
