Summer “camp” for a two turning three year old in Silver Spring

Anonymous
Looking for summer camp for a 2 year old turning 3 in the summer in or around Silver Spring. Half days or full days would be fine. 3 days a week would be fine too.

Kid is potty trained if that makes a difference.

A daycare center that had a summer only space would be fine too, but he is registered for the fall somewhere so don’t need a long term spot.

never heard of "camp" for 2 or 3 year olds.

I don’t think they have camps for that age. Some churches might have a weeklong VBS for preschool age kids.
I’d look at a daycare center with a summer program.

OP here, the Montessori he is coming from has a 6 week summer camp, which would be perfect if we weren’t moving to Silver Spring. I figured preschools in Silver Spring would too. The one he is going to next year does but you have to be 3.

Cedar Lane in Bethesda does camp for 2-6 year olds. It is 9-1 with flexible options for 2, 3, or 5 days. The issue that you will run into with this and other camps for this age group is that they are pretty limited. Cedar Lane runs June and July but not August.

Sonshine kids.

Silver stars.

They both start at 3, I think. But not one day younger - two year olds require lower ratios for caregivers so it’s too pricey for camps.

Oh, there's also All Saints in Chevy Chase. They go down to age 2.

Silver Stars used to say 3.5 and they now say 4.

Learning Center for Young Children has a camp for 2-5s that runs for two weeks in June

If you want to stick with Montessori, Evergreen goes down to 3 - so would depend on timing/if they will except your kid from the age policy before they hit 3.

I’d also check with some of the big centers to see if they can take just summer enrollment. Karasik has a good summer program but they’ve just said they’re nearly fully enrolled so I’m not sure they’ll take summer-only enrollment.

Am I right to assume that these camps for 3 year olds require them to be fully toilet trained?

Center-based camps might not, but most others will.

I just saw on rock creek forest Montessori in kensington that they have something that might work.

There aren’t really “camps” for this age because 2 and 3 year olds need stability and low ratios, not getting shuffled from underpaid college student to underpaid college student.

Silver Spring Day School has camp but double check that it’s not just for its own students.
