Do high schools with minimal homework exist? What are they?

Don't want to start a homework debate but my child is burned out by the end of the school day.

You won't get an honest answer here. People think that it means their school is more prestigious if they say it gives 4+ hours of work a night.

All of them as far as I'm concerned. My kid barely does anything and has straight A's in MCPS.

Way to post in the appropriate forum.

Yes, and this is why grade inflation is so rampant in the public school system. A 4.0 student in FCPS, MCPS, LCPS, etc. do not compare to a 4.0 (heck, even a 3.75) student at a competitive private school.

This person may not realize what forum they are posting in, but, OP, where is your kid in school now? I moved mine from MCPS to private high school for higher expectations. MCPS does not have hard deadlines for turning in assignments, does not give 0s for assignments and averages your semester grades by the letter (rather than the number). For a stressed kid, that will give them a ton of flexibility esp. if you stick to regular and honors (if regular isn't available). Don't do APs.

My kid is not an A student but ups a pretty solid B student at a Christian K-8. She’s in 6th now and does about 20/30 mins of homework a night.
She was an A student in 4th and 5th but MS is definitely harder.

I have heard that Burke actually has a decent homework load, I know I've heard that from at least one family and possibly at the open house.

Burke has a pretty harsh late homework policy in high school- anything turned in late is automatically marked down 50%.

Although I’d add there are quite a few study halls and free period built into the schedule at Burke. Our child is in high school there and we’ve found it’s not a huge homework load.
