Is there such a thing as a friendship coach? My 18 year old daughter is away at school and struggling to connect with friends. Maybe b/c of pandemic and on line school she missed some developmental milestones? she's very well related, seems like she should be able to make some friends! lmk if you this exists and how to get in touch w/ them!

Any coach for teens would cover this. I corresponded w Eileen Der Aris on FB. We met through a group. I was hoping my teen would do coaching, but he refused. She seemed very competent, so you could start w her, but there are tons out there.

She could try social skills group sessions

Send her on group trips. Also getting involved in dorm politics and activities helps.

Does she want the help or is this your worry?

If she is the one who is worried about it, and she wants to, therapy should cover this. It could be anxiety or other issues. But some people are just slower to make friends. What it may “seem like” to you may not be her reality.
