Do kids ever get off the waitlist at Burke for ninth grade? |
My kid did.
|
My son did as well, last year. |
My kid wasn’t even put on the waitlist. So maybe they have a more realistic waitlist. |
If you can pay full tuition, youve got a pretty good shot. If you requested financial aid, that makes it much tougher. |
OP here: We didn't request financial aid but I thought that didn't matter at Burke. |
YES! Many students apply to Burke as a back up. Often they decline Burke’s acceptance and then the waitlist moves. Expect quite a bit of movement over the next few months. If you are full-pay, it should happen faster. |
It matters at every private school. Burke does offer a lot of financial aid, but when it comes to taking kids off the waitlist, all that financial aid has already been distributed to the accepted students. |
Do sibs get heavy preference at Burke? |
Yes. They are very explicit about this and have a stated commitment to keep siblings together if possible. |
If you're full pay. I don't think you'll get off if you need any significant FA. They aren't known for terribly generous aid packages. |
How long did it take? Our kid was accepted at our second-choice school. We’re going to pay the deposit and see what happens with Burke. I’m just trying to get a sense of timing. Our kid will be happy at the other school. |
Again, the Burke WL traditionally moves quite a bit. |
Has there been any movement on the Burke waitlist? |
It isn’t supposed to matter anywhere |
