Any insights into going rates for Manhattan nannies?

Girlfriend's daughter ISO babysitting jobs. Just wrapped a gap experience and is looking for a paying gig before starting school in the fall. A mom offered $20/hour to watch nearly 3 y.o. twins from 7-6 every day. That seems low to me but maybe I am out of the loop. Gig is based in Manhattan - UWS, but the daughter also looking on UES.
Where is Urban Baby when you need it! What do folks do now to find out such info in an anonymous fashion? TIA for any insights/suggestions. |

My 13 year old gets paid $15/hr to see in a house and watch babies sleep on monitors. $20 for two kids during the day in manhattan is ridiculous.
If she’s working nanny hours she should get nanny pay at the same level as a no experience nanny. I’m guessing that would land her at $30/hr. |

Seriously? If someone is asking you to watch their twins 4x/week from 7-6, they are seeking a nanny and should be paid a nanny rate. Just wanting to call it a babysitter so you can pay a lower rate doesn't make it a babysitter job. |

Yes, there is a difference. OP needs to figure out whether her kid is a babysitter or a seasonal nanny and post accordingly |

OP here. It's a friend's kid not mine. Kid posted for babysitting. As per my post and the kid's ad, the kid is very clear about this being seasonal/short term. This was the first hit and kid declined due to pay/hours. Think it shows more that some folks really do not want to pay an appropriate wage for a nanny. My friend and her kid were in my apartment when the kid returned the call, so it was very clear what was going down. |

Thanks - so I'm not so far off the mark. Think the mom probably needs long days, but doesn't want to pay for it. Said they would pay in cash, which is probably appealing to some, but leaves any nanny vulnerable if something goes wrong. |

| Sounds like she's an unskilled babysitter. I think $20 is fine. The day sounds long but that is my only criticism. I have 2.5yo twins and we paid $23/hr plus transit in Jersey City for an experience nanny. |

| Is she getting time and a half for anything over 40 hrs? If so she'll work 55 hrs a week with 15 of them at $30 per hour. This will bring her weekly pay to $800 regular time plus $450 overtime. |
