We are about to embark on building a new home and trying to figure out what to pay for the lot. What are 2024 prices to build new construction per square foot? I know there is a lot of flex in these numbers for finishes, etc. so looking for mid range to “nice” but not super lux level.
Thanks for any help. I’m just trying to get a gestalt. |

Your builder really couldn’t just look this up for you?? |
We don’t have a builder. We are presenting working on buying the lot and are trying to figure out what we can pay for a lot and still pay for building the house. |
At what size? The larger the home, the lower the cost per square foot. A 3000 square foot home will have a much higher cost per square foot than a 5500 square foot home. |
4000-4500 |
I was quoted $360/sf in 2019 prepandemic. |
My friend just payed $1M for a lot in North Arlington and $1.5M to build a 6,000 sq ft home on that lot. |
I think $300/sq ft is in the ballpark. Really depends on the design and if you pick a standard floor plan or customize. |
$250 to $550. |
Which neighborhood? Buildable lots go for $500k to $1MM, only somewhat related to their square footage. |
$300-$500 (and up) depending on design and finishes. |
Funny, 2x as before. SMH 🤦♂️ |
Starts at about 450.00 for a 4000-5500sq. ft. box colonial with nice finishes. |
