Just got word that my mortgage will be transferred and will now be under Mr. Cooper. First impression is that this is a truly ridiculous name... so ridiculous that I did some online searching after I received the email from my current mortgage provider to see if it was legit. Apparently it is, and apparently they were formerly Nationstar.
Anyone have any experience with them? Again, this is just for servicing. I'm not shopping for a new mortgage, it's just my long-held mortgage being transferred to this company. |
Why does it matter who the servicer is? |
Well one of the servicers that we were transferred to didn't pay our taxes from our escrow account, so it does matter! |
Does it matter? You don't have a choice.
Every servicer sucks, as they want to spend as little as possible on servicing your loan. |
We just did the servicer transfer from Wells Fargo to Mr Cooper. It went smoothly although the communication on whether automatic withdrawal would be automatically transfered was confusing. It was transfered but I had to make a few calls to verify that, and then Mr Cooper unexpectedly made me do some additional consent a few weeks later that popped up on the app. I was careful to download the most recent Wells Fargo statements and monitor to see that the Mr Cooper payments were made. It’s been two months now and so far so good. |
which one?? |
They were awful. Late home insurance and tax payments every year. They also just had a massive date leak. |
Ours was also transferred to them. No issues with late payments, but I was obviously less than thrilled by the data leak. |
We've had Mr. Cooper as our servicer since April 2021 - no problems at all. |
My servicing got transferred to Mr. Cooper not long after I refied in 2021. No issue, but I also have no escrows to screw up. |
+1 |
Mr. Cooper's "leak" was a major data breech: https://www.accountablehq.com/post/mr-cooper-suffers-a-huge-breach
We haven't had problems with them but their web UI isn't the best either. |
I was also skeptical that Mr. Cooper is a legit company. There were problems at the beginning where Wells Fargo said they wouldn’t accept payments after July 1, then Mr. Cooper said they wouldn’t accept payments before July 15, then August 1, then August 15. When I called Mr. Cooper to make the payment due August 1, they claimed they couldn’t accept it because the accounts from the Wells Fargo transfer hadn’t been created yet. Ok, but I don’t want to make a late payment because neither company will accept payment. It’s been ok since. |
Mr. Cooper messed up my escrow estimate last year, which was a pain. I actually had to reach out to them to alert them that they were underestimating the property taxes, so I'd recommend monitoring your account! |
It sounds so fake, but we were transferred 2 years ago and no complaints |
