This is so bad. What a disappointment.

Oh no! I was looking forward to it.

I like it too! Cast is fantastic and the angle they are exploring -- the choices different people made in occupied France with regards to the Nazis -- is not overly examined at this point. I like that they are viewing the choices various people make, from full resistance to full collaboration, with curiosity instead of judgement. Because it forces me, as the viewer, to really consider what I might do in the same situation.

Usually stories like this assume everyone is ready to be a full on fighter for the Resistance, and that's totally unrealistic. Resistance fighters risked their lives daily. Most people made compromises. How they made those choices is pretty fascinating, and using the world of haute couture as a backdrop makes sense because the names and culture feels familiar (to me) so it feels real and immediate.

I don't understand why it's getting panned

I haven't watched this yet, but did she the previews. I was so intrigued that the lead actor playing Dior is the same guy who played the black sheep brother in Bloodline! So funny to see him using a French accent after seeing him in that show.

I'm about midway through and like this show! Very interesting and of course, the Dior creations are to die for.

I loved this show - just finished. The cast was excellent. I was wondering why they never mentioned Andre's wife (Gabrielle's mother). She just wasn't there, inexplicably. And I also found it unrealistic that Andre would have turned in his beloved aunt. He would have been rotting in a concentration camp - or dead - had she not arranged for him to get out. I wonder how true that was.

PP again - one other interesting fact about the casting: Andre is played by Kristin Scott-Thomas's son. KST and Juliette Binoche starred in The English Patient. I thought that was cool.

I love it, except for John Malcovitch’s accent, which is Dick Van Dyke level bad.
