What's a fair monthly rate for home daycare in Rockville?

Anonymous
Hello,
I am new to the Rockville area, and looking for licensed home daycare nearby or day care center. What is a fair weekly/monthly rate. I found one home care center charging $680 per child (15 months- 2 years), 7am-5pm, snacks included. Is that too much or within the normal range in this area?

that's $680/weekly btw.

Wow, I pay much less than that for home daycare in DC...they run about $1700-$1900 monthly here. I'd think Rockville would be a bit cheaper. I would shop around a bit more.

Wow - that seems really high to me for in home. I pay $250 per week out in Colesville, which I know is almost absurdly cheap, so I wouldn't expect you to find that in Rockville. But something in the $350-$400 range seems more reasonable.

Have you tried carelulu.com? That is where I found my lady. We love her, and she is so wonderful to our boys.

$680 per week?

That is about twice the normal rate for most in-home daycares.

What services do they provide that would account for the high price? That’s higher than centers.

Exactly. What's so special about this one? Wouldn't pay more than around $350 for a home daycare.

That’s a lot for a week.
I have a friend who does in home daycare in the city of Rockville and she charges $250 per week per kid.

680$ you may as well get a nanny! That’s extremely high. Please double check that this person is also licensed as they probably are not. Sounds like someone trying to charge nanny rates while sitting at home calling herself a daycare as she doesn’t accept more than 2-3 children

$75 per day is about average

We were at a Spanish immersion home daycare in Silver Spring, and their current prices are $365 per week for infants and an optional $5 weekly camera fee. They charge $345+5 for potty trained kids. Hot breakfast and lunch and 2 snacks included.

How many kids are they watching? The 2 home daycares we were in had 2 staff for 8 kids and charged between $250-350 per week per child. At $680 per week you might as well get a nanny share.
There was a poster on this forum who was planning to charge a high rate for a home daycare she was planning to open. Maybe OP found her LOL.

Most home daycares ranges from $320- $400

If Maryland is doing that universal prek then infant rate can go higher

Use Maryland LOCATE to find licensed daycares

This is less than minimum wage. Not unreasonable when you think about it but it does sound high.
