This is great! Thank you. Ill start

2024 Predictions (Final 4)

4A:
Dominion - Coach L is one of the areas best. He will have the Titans primed to return to the promise land.
Kettle Run - With a great season in 2023, Lets see if Kettle Run can continue to rise.
Broad Run - They have talent in the right spots. A lack of seriousness in the program could hurt them. Depth also in question.
Loudoun Valley - Dominion and Valley have a very interesting rivalry. Can Valley's Faceoff Man keep them in games. Can they Vikings develop offensive threats in the midfield. Only time will tell.

5A:
Riverside - Just when people think they are "down", they go and win state titles. Whatever is in the water there, I want some. They are at a different level until proven otherwise.
Independence - A ridiculous amount of talent, maybe the best in the state, but can a new coach take this Indy team to the next level. Off-Season leagues show that the tigers may have what it takes to knock off the Rams.
Briar Woods - Not so fast Indy Lovers... Briar still seems to have Indy's number. They also have an absolute beast in the midfield. With a new coach as well, the battle for 2nd in 5A might be one to remember.
Mountain View - Heading down to Stafford with our 4th team... The Hokies of the north have something cooking. 15-1 last year, with a tough loss to Briar at the end of the season. Can they get themselves to over that Loudoun hump?

6A:
Madison - Much like in the 5A landscape, Warhawks are top dogs until beat. They have one of the best poles (IMO) in NOVA history. Coach Soloman is also probably the best coach in all of Virginia. Heavy prediction that Madison dismantles Riverside in the opener on there way to yet another state champy.
Langley - Sleeeeper team here in the 2 spot. They may have the most offensive talent they have had since Brewer. Can Coach Parrot win the big game? He will need to get the Saxons back on the map. Pressure on Georgetown Pike.
Robinson - Losing two close games in 2023 to the boys from Vienna has the Rams motivated for 2024. Need to summon the spirits of Rams past to remember that they are the program to beat.
Battlefield - Something about the Purple that brings fear to those who face them. They always play great defense, have a fantastic ball stopper between the pipes, and seem to always be there at the end.

Remember these are all opinion, not fact. They are also for fun. Love to hear your thoughts! Post away....

Good stuff and keep posting. "best pole in NOVA history?" That would be quite the claim considering the number one pole in the world right now played in NOVA at Robinson. There are two IL top 50 players (PSU and Lehigh) who played in NOVA and are poles. Last season there were several good ones in NOVA that we = or better.

Agreed. I think the original poster said "one of the best" not the best. There have been great poles that have came out of this area. Almost too many to remember. Isn't one of the current starting 3 poles at UVA a Nova kid?

All in all, great original post. Lets get more of this going!

Glad someone is finally recognizing Langley! Great analysis. They have the pieces for sure, scorers all over the offensive end... They also have a really difficult schedule this year. I truly feel like they will need to beat a tough Yorktown team (surprised they didn't make your top 4) and actually a tough McLean team in a rivalry game... If they can, they will have some momentum, if they don't, its could be a "here we go again" scenario.

Great insight and start to the 2024 season. Glad you are including 4A and 5A. Note about Indy which will make some conversations this spring, the "new" coach has been coaching the core group since they were 8U so really not a new coach.

Has he ever been a high school head coach before (I really don't know, not being a jerk)? There is a HUGE difference between coaching at the varsity high school level vs. youth lacrosse. People game plan, you aren't coaching against just your age group, and a ton of other things that a head coach needs to deal with.

Agree with the top 4 and i would add Yorktown, McLean, and West Potomac is going to make some noise with their solid junior class and some good sophmores.

I agree is Mclean and Yorktown. Who will lead the way for West Pot? I haven't heard much about them, do they have some kids back back from private school?

I have heard of kids going to private for 2-3 years then go back to their public their senior year. Is that still a thing?

Love the rankings!

I have no clue about 4A, Dominion always seems good, but I feel like Atlee and Glass are way better down south.

I get that the trend is to always say how great Riverside is in 5A, but has anyone actually seen them play recently? They didn't play in any fall league, they lost that sick attackmen that went to Jacksonville. I don't think they have much. Why do people keep saying they are that much better then everyone else?

6A should be up in the air. Madison is so good. I don't agree with Langley, they lost to bad teams last year. Yorktown should be on there, and maybe even McLean.

I think Freedom has a chance to challenge Battlefield and make some noise. I think Champe could be in the mix. Not sure about LightRidge as they are so new. It is tough in Loudoun when you keep opening new schools every year. Freedom/Champe/Lightridge are all about 2 miles apart along with PVI being right in the middle. Tough to consolidate the talent.

I don't understand the Langley lost to bad teams. Rob, York and Mclean are considered bad? The liberty is going to be a 3 way battle for sure this year.

Riverside has 2 keys to their team- FOGO (heading to D1 Jax next year) and goalie. Give them extra possessions and limit scoring runs by the opposition. Briar will battle then tough for 1st in the Potomac District.

Still think Atlee is the best public school in all of VA regardless of class.
