How does FH Furr have almost 5 star reviews?

Anonymous
I have a subscription to get a bunch of services for free for a reasonably yearly fee, but every time somebody comes the problems they find and their quotes are ridiculous.

Recently a technician tried to scare us about a gas/carbon monoxide leak through a crack. The fix involves replacing our heat exchanger, which is under warranty until 2035 (the information is available to technicians through the manufacturing website). Cost 7k$.

I am having my former HVAC technician (not licensed in my area anymore) take a look next week, but I highly doubt we even have a problem.

Never, ever use them!

They seem to be the local HVAC subcontractors for Costco. They always seem to have a salesperson in the store. I thought they were a reputable outfit.

We haven’t had any problems with FH Furr. I do generally prefer smaller businesses though.

I wish I had a link, but I recently read a story about venture capital firms buying out family-owned HVAC companies. They take an operation with a good reputation and start ripping off their customers. I guess they can make enough before all the customers leave them to cover the cost of the acquisition.

We had a subscription service with them in our last house (up until about 3 years ago) and had overall positive experiences.

If we don't hear back from OP, likely the FH Furr tech was right and they succumbed to the carbon monoxide leak.

OP here!! Alive and kicking 🤪

My experience has been terrible. Somehow I am also skeptical of the favorable posts here..

Will report back after my previous HVAC contractor makes his evaluation.

Worst experience was with Michael and Sons. Screw them. The can kiss my a-s. Next Worst is Mr. Plummer. Again screw them. FH Furr in 3rd worst. Cropp Metcalf not bad but too expensive. I bought plumbing insurance through Dominion Energy and I call them when I have an issue and they send who they send.

Carbon monoxide detectors are only $10. I would definitely get one or two.

OP here. Yes, we got one per room. They all indicate 0.

We used one of their competitors and wrote a bad review. They refunded us and paid us a decent amount of money to take it down. I just assume that's how they all keep their reviews high

I’m also skeptical. They’re a terrible company. Our local HVAC contractor got bought out by then and service immediately became horrible.
