looking for daycare in Chevy Chase MD

Anonymous
My son is coming up on 18 months and we'd like to put him in daycare. It doesn't need to be full time - preferably start with 3 half-days a week and gradually transition to full time. Please recommend a program in CCMD that you like! Ideally the program will prioritize outdoor time and is walkable/bikeable from FH metro. I really liked the look of Outdoor Nursery School in CCMD but they only start accepting children at 2 years of age.

Thanks!

All Saints
Chevy Chase Montessori

These are all the ones I found that accept children under 2. Also, this isn't daycare. You'll want to use the term preschool or school.

I would just wait for him to turn 2 and start him at pre-school. Add CCUMC to your list.

We love Chevy Chase Montessori! Our older child attended, and our younger is there now. Fabulous teachers, and my kids really thrived there

Too young for school. Pre k isn't a requirement for kindergarten.

Preschool starts at age of 3. Young kids needs play, social interaction and some academics.
A nanny is fine, a small family childcare home too(family daycare)

I don't like centers with lots of kids. Too much for a young kid and less individual attention.

Whatever you choose, don't fall for the pretty names. Always check the inspections of the facility

You will be surprised from reading the inspection reports from those big centers
Many don't follow the rules

+1 for CCUMC

CCUMC is fantastic. We put three kids through there and they were so well prepared for elementary school. The community is really enjoyable too. They have an early 2s program that allows kids to do a half year starting in January if their birthday is Sept thru Dec.

Wonders at Leland is great. It’s right next to the Lawton park/rec center.

Use Maryland LOCATE to find licensed daycares

Don't they also have a minimum age? I thought for an 18 mo you'd have to go to the other Wonders at the metro

Hi, not OP but reviving this thread in hopes of getting more information on All Saints. I saw they were suspended in 2022 for some violations. Any current parents can speak to their experience with the school? I did take a tour and it looked fine. The only noticeable difference from the other CC preschools was more staff turnover.

Thanks !!

Recently suspended and high staff turnover sound like massive red flags to me
