what was your wait time for a neuro psych eval at Kennedy Krieger?

I can't even get them to call me back. Just wondering that the ball park wait is for the eval?

I was told three years when I was trying to get one for my kid. They offered an assessment with a developmental pediatrician instead, said that would take about six months.

Last week they informed us that the wait time was 3 years, and they said if it wasn’t for behavioral issues it wouldn’t be covered by insurance. They told us to try through the school system.

There clearly are not enough neuropsychologists, period — not just at KKI. This is very problematic.

A full neuropsychological battery is not really needed for most kids. That’s why KKI doesn’t prioritize it unless the child has a condition where it’s more important to monitor the trajectory of cognitive function. We did one a childrens and it was overkill. You can just do the testing needed for a diagnosis and the school can do the educational testing.

They initially told me il to a year and then I got the appointment in three months. I highly recommend them. After the first evaluation, scheduling follow ups was simple. They are very responsive once you’re in the system.

Try George Mason instead.

I don't know if there are different evaluations at KKI but we went through CARD (Center for Autism and Related Disorders) earlier in the year. We submitted the intake information in very early March and were seen in mid-July (after declining a mid June appointment due to our travel plans). My child is a toddler and the eval included meetings with an SLP, OT, and developmental ped. I did check in at one point to ensure they had everything they needed and to "get on their radar".

That’s not a neuropsych.

PP, please google and educate yourself on what a neuropsychological evaluation is. I'm sure you mean well, but what you got was very different from a neuropsych. Your child is a toddler so you have a lot to learn. There are others on here who can help you get there, but it's not great to respond to posts when you don't know what you're talking about.

Hi!

Did you all complete the intake forms yourself or did your child's provider complete it? Is it faster if the provider does it?

Thanks!
