When house hunting, all the districts in area seemed to be divided by county districts which seemed quite weird. Is it like this everywhere? Ive seen them also in Florida on school buses; seems like it might be better than our district, where there’s massive inequity by town or city. |
Public school?
Yeah - it is like that here. You don’t need a real estate agent; just start with Great Schools. |
Fairfax / Loudoun: good but falling fast due to incompetent SB/super,
MoCo: once great; now generally a dumpster fire, City of Falls Church: good, but the rest of Falls Church is a title-1 wasteland, DC, PG: your only decent option is private school, like where Obama, Bush, Trump, and every president since Carter sent their kids. |
Let’s be clear here, the wealthy families, and Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria are also sending their children to DC privates. |
There are plenty of very wealthy families with kids in ACPS and FCPS |
You don’t know what you’re talking about, particularly with respect to MCPS and Falls Church. Two of the best pyramids in FCPS - McLean and Marshall - largely serve areas in the county with Falls Church addresses. Next time you might want to stop pretending you know more than you do. |
OMG. Ignore these crazy people. Yes, the schools here are set up by county, it's bizarre, but there is a lot of variance within each county. All the school systems here are great. |
same for MCPS. |
County schools are the norm in the south. If you want township schools with perfectly gerrymandered districts to ensure poor kids are kept out, you need to move further north |
+1 |
What is the difference between Prince William and Loudoun? Is there also a large disparity between west and east Loudoun? Some schools in the west are nearly 85% white and 2% asian while in Ashburn are 45% white 25% asian. |
MCPS employee. This is only said here - and the PP characterization was spot on: dumpster fire. |
It’s a southern thing to have the whole county be a school district. |
Western Loudon is a miserable commute to job centers between Dulles and Tysons. Eastern Loudon is an easy commute |
Western Loudoun folks are farmers |
