$100 in groceries

Brand name items, organic, and otherwise not a very savvy shopper. If you're going to whine about how little $100 gets you then you're doing it all wrong.

Shop Costco (they sell more organic items and at a cheaper price than WF), go with the house brand for things like cereal, and your grocery list should coincide with what is on sale (with exceptions of items you truly need and can't wait for a sale).

Those Kind bars are crazy expensive. Plus the brand name cereal and chips, and some sort of organic meat. Stick to chicken thighs. Cheap as heck and they cook up into lots of dishes - spaghetti, tacos, etc. Replace the loose berries with apples and uncut melons. You'll get a lot more fruit for your money. Bananas are crazy cheap so he did well with those.

Single serve chips? Why?

I live in an expensive city and that is not $100 worth of food. Less.

I call BS.

Shopping at a discount supermarket yesterday (Lidl), I got eggs, milk, butter, flour, a couple of types of cheeses, yogurt, spaghetti squash, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, a couple of types of berries, apples, plums, tomato paste, passata, pasta, pickles, dried beans, oatmeal, frozen fish, potatoes, rice, garlic, and a few other things for $100. This will last us for 1.5 weeks with what we have in the pantry/freezer.

One of those items is not like the others. Just saying.

If this is what/how he likes to eat and he's just showing "dayum folks-- here's $100 right here" then that's cool.

He doesn't seem to be the kind of person trying to stretch their money. Just shock and awe about how little you can get for $100.

The bars, chips and cereal is not food. There are several items that could have been bigger for almost the same price (Watermelon), potatoes probably.
Is it from Safeway? Needs to go to Aldi. TJ or Lidl.

I bet I could go to a store and get even fewer items for $100 to get a shocking picture. A pack of filet mignon, a bag of frozen shrimp, and a few packs of berries should do it.

I usually shop at Trader Joe’s and for $100 I get two full bags of vegetables, some meat, cheese, and even some snack items.

Or a whole beef tenderloin and one or two lobsters.

Just yesterday:

2 lbs brisket
1 fileted trout
1 bone in chicken breast
Above = $50
