Are we about to witness an unprecedented disaster for southern California? |
My sources say no |
I do not think very many people realize this may end up being a 2020s version of Katrina |
That's reasonable. Because it won't. |
We're in Southern California. We're currently moving all the boxes out of the garage so we can put the car inside and stop it getting washed away down the street (potentially).
We've also got rubber pegs for all the ill fitting walls of glass which make up our windows at the back of the house, to stop them banging all night in a storm (they banged all night in January). |
Omg pp. talk about overreacting |
I think boarding windows might be over reacting but putting the car inside the garage doesn't qualify as over-reacting. I would say that qualifies as "normal behavior". But well done for trying. |
We are in LA. Not doing anything except bringing in the umbrellas and turning off the irrigation since we will be getting some rain. |
It’s so hard to tell, because the news hypes up every potential storm. I remember thinking they were over exaggerating the forecast for Katrina, because that’s what the news always does. |
I just had an alert from the school district
:Sandbags have already been deployed to sites we already know are problematic. We have water pumps available if needed and additional trash cans have been deployed in the event of water leaks. Additionally, there will be roving facilities employees checking sites and mopping floors as needed. We will continue to access the weather tomorrow. Lastly, we will continue to message updates. |
The storm wasn't that bad. The disintegrating levies did all the damage. |
Omg pp. talk about overreacting We will find out soon whether it was overreacting |
Well it's 6:51 am here in SoCal, it's barely sprinkling and the wind is roaring through here at a whole 6mph.
Big ol nothing-burger, so far |
I can see the Hollywood sign so I’ll let you know if it slides down the hill. For LA this will be no worse than the Jan/Feb rains. Maybe more troublesome in the desert. |
You just got an earthquake too? |
