Doll for two-year-old

What brand/type of doll would you buy as a birthday gift for a two-year-old? Baby doll? Something else? What has your two-year-old liked?

My two year old doesn’t seem to like dolls so maybe I’m not the best to give advice, but I’d say it depends on budget and preferences. We wanted nontoxic so we bought Apple Park dolls. But I’ve seen kids with Madame Alexander, Bitty Baby, and Manhattan Toy Company dolls.

My DD played with the Melissa and Doug baby doll for a long time.

+1. Mine are not interested in dolls but they love baby dolls!

Mine doesn’t really do dolls yet but she adores stuffed animals.

My kids are grown now, so my memories are hardly fresh. If it were me, though, I’d probably buy a doll that is designed for practicing buttons, zippets, ties, etc. Or, I’d check with the parents to see what the child’s favorite character/show was and buy according to the child’s preferences.

Ones with recorded phrases or songs are more fun.

Mine liked a soft doll with clothes she could take off and put on. But over all like stuffed animals more.

Bitty Baby dolls (from American Girl) are great, but probably more for 3+. My 5 year old still plays with hers all the time. Before BB she had a soft Manhattan Toy doll. She loved the magnetic pacifier and changing the doll’s clothes.

Nope. Annoying and limiting.

I like the Corolle Calin dolls for 2-year-olds if you’re looking for something a little higher quality. They have a great balance of weight and softness and are a nice size for 2-year-olds to carry.

For something that will get lots of use, the Basket of Babies by Creative Minds. The dolls’ “outfits” are little sleep sacks with Velcro tabs at the shoulders— a 2-year-old can figure it out pretty quickly and switch the outfits between dolls all by themselves.

Get the washable ones like Fisher Price.

I watch 2 year olds every Sunday at church. They love those washable dolls. And, they do in fact often need washing!

Save the nicer dolls for later.

Elmo all the way .

But she likes stuffed animals more than dolls.

Pre parenthood - I did gift stuffed animals. As a parent though very unenthused about doll/stuffed animal gifts - she is just two and we have way too many! (Admittedly some of the excess is from my own stuffed animal collection but I'm surprised how many she has amassed in her very short life.).

My daughter likes wee baby Stella, and I have found that she’s washable. She likes getting little outfits for her too.
