We need to replace a variety of light switches. House currently has a mix of toggle and rocker switches (who knows why), and trying to decide if we go all rocker or all toggle. Any thoughts on the two? |
OP here. For context, the house was built in 1990s. Probably transitional in style. I'm leaning towards the rocker switches, but interested in opinions. |
Rocker > toggle. Replacing the toggles with rockers will give your home a more updated and more upscale look. Rocker switches are also better for anyone with arthritis in their hands or other mobility challenges. It’s easier to turn them on or off when your hands are full, too. |
Rocker switch is better for arthritic hands. |
I think toggle switches are classic and rocker switches look 1990s dated. But I'm no expert here. |
This. Do you have arthritis? |
Well this new build has rockers

I don't have arthritis but rockers are easier to bump with my hand to turn the light on and off. They also match my home automation switches |
We like our rockers with dimmer. |
I like rockers with the little dimmer slider on the side. |
Rocker, toggle is old. |
Thank you! |
+1. We put on an addition/ renovation in our split level using rocker switches. I’m now slowly replacing the rest of the toggles in the house to rockers. It’s a much more updated look. |
Just wait until you get into smart switches... we've now replaced every switch in our house! |
