With all of the corruption and ethics issues being surfaced as it relates to the Supreme Court, it seems like a consolidated threat might be in order.

I was saddened to read about Robert’s wife.

Just sad.

Everyone knew Roberts’ wife was doing this - at the time it was actually preferred to her former job which was as an attorney at one of the firms which has a ton of business before the court. I’m liberal AF and all over all of the other SCOTUS corruption threads but I’m not sure this is a BFD. She should be able to work somewhere.

She is grifting law firms that have business before the court for placement of attorneys. This is egregious.

That's a lot of money being taken from clients with business before the courts

Ok but not doing this type of corrupt nonsense.

If Roberts was a regular federal employee whose wife had a consultancy that took $10 million from law firms who practiced before him, he'd get fired

I know!! Let’s impeach all but the democrats and fill the entire SC with democrats because that’s the goal here. I don’t think y’all know how transparent and gullible you all are.

Point out the ethics lapses and corruption of "left" justices and we can talk.

DP. OK.

It turns out Justice Sotomayor left six free or reimbursed excursions off her 2016 financial disclosure report, which she amendment last year but was only released to the public (i.e., us) today.

In 2020, via public records request, we discovered that Sotomayor’s trip to Rhode Island to give the URI commencement address included a free flight and hotel, which under federal law must be reported in an annual disclosure report. It wasn’t. Today we learned that her 2016 trips to universities in Illinois, New Jersey, Alaska, Wisconsin and Minnesota were also omitted.

Even with all these trips being to public schools and for educational talks, the omissions show the the court must take its disclosure responsibilities more seriously.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nominee financial disclosure from March 2022 reveals she “inadvertently omitted” consulting income her spouse “periodically receives from consulting on medical malpractice cases” on previous reports.

“Jackson only told us her husband made money in ‘legal malpractice consulting,’ which is about as opaque as you can get,” he said. “Where did this money come from? Who are his clients? Did these clients have any matter before Jackson while she served as a federal judge for the prior decade? Jackson left out this required information in her disclosures for nearly 10 years, and she stated in her 2022 confirmation disclosures that she’d amend them later. Where are the amendments?”

Jackson not only omitted details about her husband’s work, she also excluded details about her own positions.

“My 2014 and 2016 annual reports inadvertently omitted reimbursements from: (i) the University of California, Berkeley School of Law for expenses to attend a panel discussion in October 2014, and (ii) the Aspen Institute for expenses to attend a Justice and Society seminar in July 2016,” the disclosure states. “In addition, my 2014 annual report inadvertently omitted my salary of $1,765 from George Washington University for teaching a Federal Sentencing Seminar.”

Please. I can actually predict the next ‘scandal’. Same sources, same BS.

The charges against thomas aren’t BS. Because you’re a wing nut, you get to essentially wish them away, but they’re real.

Ok, so given Robert's lax ethics enforcement, what do you propose?

Personally, I would like to see ethics standards at least as strict as the Federal Court system, and possibly moreso. How rto enforce? Senate Judiciary in tandem with DOJ? I am not sure, but what we have now is a travesty.

Lets see. The above are disclosures to the tune of a few thousand dollars. Not good obviously. Should have been disclosed. But are reimbursements for expenses incurred to travel to give speeches or talks. In contrast, Thomas received gifts (ie, free luxury travel for vacation, etc) to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars. And Gini was overpaid for decades by supporters of Thomas. Q whether Gorusch was overpaid for his CO property. The story on Jane Roberts is surprising. If true, very sad. $10M over 7 years is $1.4M per year as a headhunter. Nice gig. Yes. she was in a real dilemma when her husband joined the court.
