Best Tattoo Artists in the LA area

Anonymous
So I realize this might be a very long shot for DCUM given how much hate tattoos get on the forum generally, but if any of you posters in the LA area can recommend a first class tattoo artist I'd be grateful. Waiting list is fine. I'm base in the Pasadena / Burbank / Gendale areas, not far from North Hollywood.

So OP here, I have some scars on my left shoulder and arm from a motorcycle accident that happened nearly 20 years ago but they're still ugly. I'd like to get them covered.

Anyone with suggestions for tattooists in LA?

Hi OP, I have no suggestions but I do want to hear what you find. I want to get a tattoo for my upcoming 50th.

OP, I am local but also have no suggestions of specific places. When you see people with tattoos that you think are well-done, just ask them! You'll probably end up with the best artist in town.

Also, just fyi, an interesting article came out about tattoos in The Atlantic. Just something to think about--two takeaways: all tattoos become fuzzy over time, and they do create sort of a permanent auto-immune response in the body. I don't think it said in that article, but I have read, that the ink, especially red ink, ends up in the lymph nodes.

Thanks for this I will definitely take a look at the article and to the other poster, thanks I shall also let you know if I find a really good place. I have seen one very nicely done sleeve tattoo and got the name of the shop, but when I looked online at the work of the individual artists there, I didn't think it was the same quality and I didn't know which artist had done it.

PP so I found a couple of amazing female tattoo artists after doing a search of Pasadena tattoo shops. But it looks like their books are currently "closed" and their current shop is closing. you might want to follow them (if you also like them) on instagram to see when that changes (which is what I also plan to do). Then I found a some male tattoo artists in the same area who also look good but not as amazing. I'll post all their handles below:

1. Vicky Chiang : @tattooist_inkandbloom
2. Siobhan : @siobhansbeard
3. Pete Castro : @pete_castro
Who is at https://www.shoguntattoo.com along with some other artists

I am located in the South Bay area of LA but used to live in Alexandria for years. I know of a great artist locally (Tarzana). You can look at her work on Instagram @sash_inks to see if she fits your style. Sasha works for Patch Tattoo Therapy. She went to school with my daughter and has done a beautiful piece on her upper arm.

Thank you so much for this rec. I have looked at her work and that Elephant with the long legs is fantastic (I can't believe it was only her 2nd tattoo ever). Thanks again.

In case anyone is interested, I've found a few artists on instagram including overseas / other state artists who will be visiting Los Angeles over the next few months.

Also I'm now booked in with 2 artists and really excited about it.

OP here. I now am the proud owner of 4 tattoos with bookings for 4 more in the coming months.
