STMPG |
Episcopal School in the E 60s. STMPG is a pretty good one but it's pretty old school buttoned up catholics (not a bad thing)
non jewish moguls go to Episcopal and jewish moguls go to Temple Emanuel's preschool |
How is the 92nd street Y? Anyone have any experience with their preschool? What makes Episcopal, STMPG, Temple Emanuel's better? |

Most of the articles are from the early 2000s - how have things changed over the past 20 years? |
It depends on what you want. Consider your connections, and how much help you will need to get out. All of these programs, 92NY, Episcopal, All Souls, Brick Church, etc. have oodles of siblings and legacies that are pretty much guaranteed to get spots at the top ongoing schools, so you will fit in around those people. Some of the programs are bigger than others, with morning and afternoon spots (which means more competition to get out). I know people who left all of these programs to go early to ongoing schools (Riverdale, Horace Mann, and Ethical Culture) to avoid the crazy competition of exmissions. My children went to one of these preschools, unconnected, and the biggest difference I can see in our ongoing is that some kids were better prepared academically (less of an emphasis on play), but that isn't without problems - many of those kids have major adjustments to learning to playing nicely with others. But by grade 2/3, it all seems to even out anyway. |
92NY is dripping with money. That can't be it. Unless you mean that they don't cost as much. Ha! |
Saint Ann’s, if you’re artsy. |
City and country, episcopal. |
No one gets into Town |
Depends who you ask and faith has a lot to do with it.
Episcopal (all my nieces and nephews went there) attracts a certain "type" |
Some of these answers... no. Here is the ranking of all the TT pre-schools in Manhattan:
TT of the TT: Episcopal and 92 Street Y Then: Temple Emanu-El, Brick Church, Park Children's Day on the UWS (huge connections at Brearley) Then: STMPG, All Souls, West Side Montessori, Washington Market, Garden House, Christ Church (But even the third tier of the TT are very TT). |
Any idea what preschools feed into collegiate? |
