Where to House an Intern in LA?

Anonymous
Hi - My son, who is a rising junior in college, will be interning in Century City. While he can work remotely, he is not going to learn as much so I would like him to spend a month in LA, if possible, so he can go into the office. He will not have a car. Any ideas of where I should look for a sublease or a short-term rental? I am aware of the dorms at UCLA and am reaching out to them today but would love other options or advice generally! Thank you!

I was going to suggest dorms at UCLA. There are some airbnb's in LA but you'd have to check the maps. Is he going to have a car?

Students post available summer sublet spots on UCLA's reddit page and on a public Facebook page for UCLA Housing, Rooms, Apartments, and Sublets. (Be prepared for the very expensive cost of housing close to campus, however.)

OP, I live in the area, and encourage you to consider getting him a car for at least part of this experience.

Platinum Car Rental in Beverly Hills will rent to under-25 y.o.s. ‭(310) 652-5038‬

When my underage DD (in high school) needed a car to drive to her summer job, we used them. They are great.

I’d have him sublet in Century City or Rancho Park on one side and Beverly Hills on the other - could be some great guest house-above the garage options in those areas. It’s close to freeway access, right next to the mall (outdoor, nice to walk around, good restaurants) if you don’t intend on renting him a car. Even with a car, it’s nice to not have to deal with unpredictable LA traffic - better to be close.
