It sounds like you’re looking for the burbs, but if you want to be more central there are some great individual publics nearly housing in your price range. For example Carpenter in Studio City or if you want a smaller feel Valley View in 90068.

Yes op those are good.
Are you staying beyond ES though?

Have you looked at either ES in Pacific Palisades / Franklin & Roosevelt in Santa Monica? They both lead to strong HS options via okay Middles. Also the Malibu schools are rated highly

I know Wonderland ES is also supposed to be great, but don't think it has a follow through MS

Further out, there are also strong schools in Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Burbank, Glendale,

Schools in Calabasas & Agoura are significantly better than in Burbank & Glendale. But it ALL DEPENDS on where work is. If work is in the West Valley/Santa Monica, then Calabasas and Agoura would be okay (it’s a commute but people do it). If your work is Downtown, Hollywood, Pasadena, then Burbank, Glendale would be ok, as well as the communities in your post. Good luck.

How to repeat someone's post without adding anything new except talk about driving. OP asked about schools, not about commute times.

Pacific palisades/Santa Monica : there is literally no house available below $2.50M

My wife currently works in Santa monica but that could change.
I work in downtown but very early morning 5:00am and i get done 1pm. Traffic is not a big factor for me.

We still want to be as close to Santa Monica/Mid city/Downtown as possible with the best ES school options

Define "best"? Do you mean high-SES, ratio of parents with college degree+, etc. ergo higher test scores? Or do you mean for example a school where your kid(s) will get exposed to both racial and economic diversity, while still receiving a strong education from great teachers that is appropriate to their level/aptitude, even if the overall test scores for the school are lower due to the greater economic diversity of the student body? Or something else?

That is a very loaded question and we already know what you believe in just by how you wrote it.

I'm not OP but La Cañada was the answer for us. It was pretty obvious what the options were going to be.

The bolded is what I mean by “best” and I think you know that - not OP
