For some reason PBS doesn't have an app for Passport that can be used on LG TVs, although it's available for other brands of smart TVs.
So is my best option a Roku stick? I'd rather not have to pay for something since I donate to PBS (and thus can get Passport), but I don't see another way. Also, perhaps a stupid question, since all my apps, like Netflix and Hulu, are already on my LG, does getting something like a Roku interfere? |
We have an old Chrome cast on our LG TV.
We just cast from the app |
Sorry should specify. I have the PBS app on my phone. I just cast from that app onto my TV. |
We use a fire stick on our Samsung TVs for that reason. They are inexpensive and then you get more functionality. |
Get a roku or apple tv. Smart TVs are terrible in terms of security and privacy policies |
At this time, LG TVs do not support PBS Passport. You would need to use a ROKU, Amazon Fire Stick, or Apple TV box to get PBS Passport on your TV. I've personally purchased two refurbished ROKU devices on Amazon for between $22 and $26, and they have worked great! You don't need the most expensive one out there to make it work. |
