Problems with Pottery Barn Delivery questions

Anonymous
After waiting three weeks, our shipment arrived two weeks ago, damaged so we refused delivery; actually the delivery guy told me to do it since the repair was not fixable and on the headboard.

They are supposed to deliver today and "the truck is broke" so won't deliver.

Any tips or tricks to getting the stuff?
I've already taken one day off and our house is small so m oving stuff out of the way takes hours.

Did any of you get any sort of compensation? If so how?

Any other ideas?

I will never order from PB again after an experience like yours.

I ended up getting the item and getting 75% off, but it took many, many interactions with customer service and me being a straight up B.

After waiting months for our couch, we finally were able to just completely cancel the order.
Will never order from pb again.

Mind telling me a bit about your experience? Was it two failed deliveries or more? What did you say to get 75% off? That's amazing btw.

Several years ago, pre-pandemic, I ordered a sectional sofa. It took 6 months for all of the pieces to be delivered. Frustrating doesn’t begin to describe the experience.
I think what made the biggest difference was the fact that I ordered it in a store. The employees there went above and beyond to be helpful. I was in direct contact with a senior vice president, ended up paying no shipping charges at all, and between refunds and store credits paid very, very little for the product.
I don’t have much advice if you bought it online (other than to say don’t do that again). I will only order furniture in store (although never again from Pottery Barn).
Good luck!

Now they tell me it will be delivered Wednesday. (This is OP) Over, under on if that's going to successfully happen?

Also, how in the heck do they stay in business?

They are the worst. I ordered a replacement slipcover and they sent me a damaged couch! Waited over 3 months for the (expensive) slipcover and then back to square one. Customer service is abysmal. I asked to speak with supervisor and was told "You'll have to wait for a long time and they will tell you exactly what I told you." And that's when I cut up the card. Never again.

Pottery Barn is the worst. They need to go out of business.

Our experience was much like 9:50's -- we ordered at a store with help from one of their "specialists." The sectional was 4 weeks late.

The day it was to be delivered we got a call from the truck driver saying they were "delayed." I could hear a woman giggling in the background. They finally showed up at -- I am not kidding -- 11:45pm. I have a photo of them bringing in part of the couch underneath my wall clock.

Then they wanted to leave everything wrapped up. I insisted they unwrap it could we could inspect it, and they were supposed to haul away all the wrapping/cardboard.

We ended up getting free delivery, 40% off the price and a $500 gift card. We traded the gift card for cash. Never shopping at PB again.

Terrible experience with them, similar excuses. Will not use again.

Op here:

How did you get these refunds/discounts/gift cards? WHat do you say and to whom?

They just canceled everything after waiting for 8 months. There was one remaining item (a small mirror) that they wanted to deliver but they still charged me the entire shipping cost of the giant order (sofa, table, dining chairs and lights), which was hundreds of dollars for a $60 mirror. It took me forever to try to get the refund.
They are a mess.

Ugh, I wish I'd seen this in November when I ordered a couch for my porch specifically because it was listed as "in stock and ready to ship" on their website.
Almost 2 full months later, still no couch, still listed as "awaiting other items in order" in my order status.

PP above. Cancel your order now if you can. Do it before they charge you.

They just say that so you order. It's not really in stock because they use drop shippers.
