Bambini Navy Yard / Capitol Riverfront

Anonymous
Hi! We are moving to the Navy Yard / Capitol Riverfront area of DC next summer, and I read Bambini is opening a new location there around that time. Are there any current families that can share a quick review? Is their Spanish immersion program effective for English-speaking households? I figure if we sign up for the wait list now, we'll have a good chance for a spot as soon as they open. Thanks!

Where did you read this? This is the first I've heard about it at all and I live in the neighborhood.

It's on the homepage of their website

I'd recommend Waterfront Academy. It is a Spanish immersion Montessori school and not too far away from Navy Yard. https://www.waterfrontacademy.org

It starts at 3 years old, right?

We love Bambini! Our son has been there for about 1.5 yrs, since 18 mos old. He fully understands Spanish and speaks with his teachers in Spanish. We do not speak Spanish at home. The teachers have been great (he loves them) and the administration is very responsive.

Wondering if anyone learned about the opening date of this new location.

Our 2-yr old started at Bambini Navy Yard last month in a class of a10 kids age 2 and 3 yrs old. We love it! The teachers are skilled, loving, and attentive to the needs of each child. We've seen them walking the kids on their daily neighborhood outings when they've not known we were nearby (not intentionally spying, just happened to be walking at the same time and witnessed them encouraging, comforting, smiling, carefully monitoring the class, always gentle. The administration has been extremely supportive and flexible with our needs. The facility is bright and clean and new! I'm a grandma who takes my grandchild there every day. I've had 3 kids of my own in childcare over the years and this is by far the best experience I've had. I have no vested interest in the school, never knew anyone there before we signed up and I highly recommend it! PS We speak no Spanish in our home, and our child is a "late talker" so we were concerned about how Spanish-immersion might work for him. But our pediatrician and speech therapist both said it is evidence-based positive in helping kids with their language to be exposed to a 2nd language in this way, and we are already seeing that after only a month! Last thing, the other parents and families are great, very helpful, kind community.

We are at bambini federal triangle. Have been since 3 months and we are about to graduate to go to kindergarten. It’s been wonderful in every way. We stayed for pre-k 3 and 4 even though we got a spot at communikids that would have been “free” because it was so good. Amazing teachers, amazing admin.
