Anyone know how many kids are out sick? My child said it seems like a lot. |
No idea how many, but mine said the same. Band concert has been postponed a couple of weeks to avoid possible spreading- email said "due to our increase in Covid infections after homecoming...". This only says 4 cases: https://coronavirus.maryland.gov/pages/school-resources |
Ballpark 47 reported cases from 10/11/22 - 10/25/22 (the last two weeks reported)
I went to this site: https://www.pgcps.org/coronavirus/resources/covid-19-cases and did a search for "Eleanor Roosevelt". The search feature says that the first entry from 10/11 was #47 of the 76 listed entries (the other 29 entries are dated 7/12/22 - 10/10/22). |
No one is counting cases anymore in schools.
and the pressure on these kids to show up to school is pretty intense (even if sick) They cannot afford to miss a week of classes. I'm an elementary teacher home sick with something -- 20% of the teachers at my school are out today and who knows how many of the kids. There are a lot of different bugs circulating apparently. |
COVID was rough for my ERHS student. No way he could have gone to school while sick. Missed 5 days of school and said some classmates missed more. He really should have stayed home for a few more days after testing negative because of lingering fatigue and cough but was worried about falling behind. Teachers excused the kids from all in-class work they missed which was helpful. |
Yeah, lots of different bugs. And totally anecdotally, but the kids that are testing + for Covid seem to be better in about 48 hours. The kids with this other mystery bug (testing neg for Covid) are getting hit pretty hard |
