The Empress - Netflix

Anyone watching this story of Empress Elisabeth of Austria? Fictionalized, of course, but based on her life. Very interesting and reminds me of "Victoria."

Thanks, I may check it out. I miss Victoria.

Bit dull.

Watched Lou instead. I love Allison Janney!

What? This is like comparing Tudors to Dahmer. Completely unrelated.

It was ok, slower than I would have liked.

I watched both - maybe you could simply post your comment on the existing Lou thread?

Question about episode 1- When the mother (princess sophie) was watching the young couple hook up… who was that? The man had a long braid/rat tail. That wasn’t the Emperor right? Was she watching the woman? Confused.

I thought it was Maximillian and his date. I liked the season well enough. In the scenes where the emperor was supposed to be charming, I found him compelling, and I felt like the show did a better job of making Sissi funny and likeable even when she was being potentially reckless than HOD does.

I wondered the same thing. Perhaps she hired both of them, to perform for her own little peep show? That was a strange scene.

She seemed to make eye contact with the woman. Was it one of her lady’s maids?

I thought it was her lady in waiting and her son. I love the autumnal palette

HOD = House of the Dragons. I find Rhaenyra to be unlikeable as a character whereas I find Sissi likeable - I think it would have been possible to make Rhaenyra funnier or wittier in a way that would have made HOD better. (I am not up to date - I assume I will watch all of the episode at some point, but it hasn't engaged me). and I stand corrected - it definitely isn't Maximillian's date so the scene does seem very out of place.

Anyone here watched 1960s Sissi trilogy with Romi schneider?
I was obsessed with it and asked my parents to take me to the Schönbrunn Castle (they did, we lived in Europe).
Watching that old show now it looks so weird 😂

And I I like Millie Alcook (esp in Season 1 of Upright - haven't seen season 2 yet) so she isn't the reason I don't like R on HOD.
