+1 My DH and DD toured there recently and can't stop talking about it.

The Mutter Museum is also cool, albeit a bit disturbing.

You can also visit the Museum of Art and run up the steps to the Rocky statue.

Reading Terminal Market for lunch - sample a bunch of things. Definitely stop by Famous 4th Street Cookies while you’re there. If you like art museums, both the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Barnes are very good. The Barnes feels a bit more manageable because it is smaller but it’s a great collection. Walking up the river trail from the Walnut Street bridge up to the Water Works/art museum area is really pleasant when the weather is good.

I also like sitting in Rittenhouse Square to people watch and hang out. You can pick up snacks and iced coffees at Metropolitan Bakery a block south of the park or at DiBruno Bros. a block north. Alternatively there’s a classic Philly restaurant (Parc) that has outdoor seating facing the park, and I love having lunch there on a nice day. But you need advance reservations or else there will be a long wait.

Lots of great ideas. Thank you.

Is Reading Terminal Market interesting on a Sunday afternoon or is it better to go there during the week?

Go to South Philly. Lot's of great Mexican and Southeast Asian food. It is a great mix of cultures. Also on Saturdays at FDR park there is an open air Asian food market. Go to the neighborhoods and experience real Philadelphians.

There’s a Harry Potter exhibit at the Franklin Institute. We’re going in a few weeks.

Reading terminal is busier on the weekend, but the worst thing about Sunday is Beiler’s doughnuts is closed. Those are some good doughnuts and worth going during the week for.

The one pizza/cheese steak place is Angelos.
