Wow. Those U10 tournament results convinced me. Forget the excellent upper-age VYS girls teams, forget the players that moved on to DA or ECNL. The Silver team lost to Team America, so the whole program is clearly worse than it was ... back when it also wasn't winning State Cups on a regular basis.
There are so many holes in that post that I simply can't devote the time to a full response. I think you've pretty much taken enough rope to hang yourself, though. That was a masterpiece of batshit. |
Go ahead and spin the success of VYS then. I'm waiting to hear how a 17-75 league record across three age groups represents a thriving and successful soccer club? How does a club ever hope to retain any talent when at U13 you have both a boys and girls team go winless? And that is the A team. |
1. The upper age girls went 10-7-2 collectively. Congrats, it took a U18/19 age group to finally go undefeated. 2. That U18 team is in fact the only VYS team that was accepted to the Girls Jeff Cup showcase in at least two years. 3. Your records are against non-DA, non-ECNL clubs. Are you saying that VYS has lost far more talent to DA and ECNL than the other VPL/NPL clubs? VSA, CYA and PWSI have not lost talent to their own VDA? Does Loudoun not lose kids to DA? And by the upper ages more than half of the boys DA gets weeded out. Those kids presumably return to their local clubs no? |
You are arguing with yourself. This parsing of U10 girls losses -- is this how you have chosen to make your cry for help?

So much time and effort to discredit a youth soccer club... Let's try something...shhhh don't say anything. Oh great youth soccer truth exposer...we bow to your wisdom...you are right and just!! You have won us simple soccer minded plebes over...You win!! You may now rest and leave us. You duty has been fulfilled. ::Fingers crossed:: ![]() |
I'm not parsing U10 wins and losses. Im establishing a trend. It was another poster who claimed VYS has a "thriving" program pre U12 before all the talent leaves for DA and ECNL. The records pretty much state that the teams perform at the about the same level throughout all age groups. We are not seeing a trend of teams starting out slowly but later developing into stronger teams at older ages. Also, keep in mind that this is the only club specific thread. Such a specific thread does not indicate a strong, thriving club. This club is clearly in a bad place and is seeking answers. The existence of this thread indicates that and the performance numbers demonstrate that as well. If you believe the club to be strong you are deluding yourself. If you think the club is making appropriate and measured changes to improve, well time will tell. Hopefully VYS can turn things around but it will take time. |
This threads existence has discredited a soccer club all by itself. |
You know what the problem is...ex-VYS parents, ex-coaches, ex-admins or just plain crazy people that are constantly posting negative things about VYS. Who f'ing cares?? If you don't like it, leave. All the power to you. I think the majority of parents understand what VYS is and if they haven't left they are obviously good with it. And most importantly there are many folks that have stayed that are working to improve things. Even in this tough area where other clubs poach and are constantly making a push to steal players. We don't need some pompous jackass posting on an anonymous site telling us what our club is. So F off. Go figure out what is wrong with the US soccer federation...make yourself useful. |
No a-hole, the question was asked if VYS was "Better or Worse" after the change in TDs. Then a-holes like you come and cause trouble. I'm curious if you go around talking like this or you just hide behind the internet? |
Perhaps clubs like VYS is a part of what's wrong with US Soccer |
In Internet slang, a troll (/?tro?l/, /?tr?l/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal, on-topic discussion,[3] often for the troll's amusement. Impressive that VYS has it's own troll...not many clubs can say that. |
By the depth of the problem the results of changes won't be felt for several years. The player pool is the biggest issue. Joining VDA may help with some retention and recruiting. It at least is a step towards establishing a player pathway to so called "elite" levels. VYS will need to try and become a destination club versus being just a Vienna based club. The image and results should be geared higher. In the North East VYS would make the perfect Town Club. A club who's only purpose is to get kids playing soccer. But we don't have a "Town Team" model here in NoVA so VYS needs think more regionally and not so hyper local. They need to develop teams that parents can expect to get accepted to showcases like Jeff Cup on a regular basis. Not every kid can play for DA or ECNL but that doesn't mean that they are not good enough to play in college. VYS currently does not offer a stable pathway for those kids. To get into Jeff Cup you need to win games. Winning matters at older ages. Winning at younger ages does not matter for development but it matters to parents who are contemplating staying with or joining VYS. |
This is on topic as it pertains to the thread. I have not called anyone names or said anything derogatory about the club. Your emotions are your own. |
+1,000,000,000,000,000 Look, MY kids -- one rec, one low-level travel -- aren't at VYS right now. They might go back at some point, though, and we sure as hell didn't make the decision over whether a bunch of freaking U10s were winning tournament games. Maybe VYS should start its own tournament and seed its teams in low brackets, like everyone else does. Would you be impressed then, Stat Man? |
I would just like to say, Hank's G99s are off to the Region 1 Championships.
That's not too shabby. |
