I agree they are confusing them with MAP.

MAP is a fine test. I'd pay attention to that not MCAP.

MAP is also an MCPS test, whereas MCAP is a state test. It isn't MCPS job to handle MCAP. If you are unhappy, write your state legislator about it.

MAP is a national test that MCPS chooses to administer, not an MCPS test

+1. It's used in many states. Many times a year. It's a very reliable, nationally normed standardized test.

Whereas MCAP is a new test the state of MD created and requires. It's too bad they won't just accept MAP and call it a day.

Doesn't matter to me one way or the other since the metric is still unproven and meaningless.

Got the results and whoa, my kid who usually gets between 94-99 in Map M is a developing math learner. I guess MCPS should get their standards better aligned with the state.

or the state should better align their test with actual proven standards

Current 8th grader? Received ours yesterday. Similar kid scored a 3, which is proficient. DC was mad they didn’t get a 4, but only 1% of kids in the state did for math. 1%! And the chart makes it look like it should be 25% (I know, it doesn’t actually, but the way it’s divided….) The letters were dated October, too. Why are we just now receiving?

I haven't gotten the latest results, but DC had a solid 4 in math last year. On their MAP, they typically score about 25 points above the 99% in the 300s.

Just got ours too, 8th grade, as previously, scored 4 on both M and ELA and their breakdowns were solid too.
Now, waiting for my 5th graders ( from 4 th grade)- wait do they take one in 4th grade?

We got ours yesterday for current 8th grader, too. Missed the Proficient/3 zone for Algebra by 1 point - thank goodness the state decided to extend the "just take it" for another year.

Still nothing for my current 6th grader.

Received my current 6th graders today

How are you using "typically"?

It sounds like you are describing their performance around the time of MCAP last year (spring 7th), but for Fall of 8th, 270 is 99.1%ile, so 25pts above is 295.

I'm using it as DC scored 250s at age 8, 285+ @10, and 300+ @13. They scored a solid 4 on the MCAP.
