World Champion Rod Batiste (WCRB) karate Camp

Anonymous
Does anyone have any feedback on the Marial Arts Olympics Camp held by WCRB Karate? I have a 7 year old girl that is a tomboy and very interested in martial arts, but has no experience. Was wondering if this was an extremely competitive (which we do not want). Dont want to kill her confidence. If anyone has any insight, I would really appreciate it. (It is in Arlington during the 2nd week of summer -- this is the last week I have to fill!) I cannot find any other martial arts camps in Arlington. If someone has a recommendation for a martial arts camp, I am all ears!

No feedback on the camp, but can offer some insight on the instructor. I'm currently taking a class by Rod for self defense in Arlington, Va. He's a very good instructor! (I'm recent college grad and a "used-to-be-tomboy".) His teaching style (and his team's as well) is very educational - the fundamentals are integrated with examples and exercises. I've already learned more than I could ever expect and feel more confident already.

I trained with him a few years ago in Arlington. He was really good with kids.

My son (almost 7 at the time) did a camp with him last year and liked but didn't love it. Jhoon Rhee TKD in Arlington also has summer camps. Their instructors are excellent and they have many female instructors and lots of girls in their programs. www.tkdlifeskills.com

Wondering if anyone has any more recent feedback on this camp? Considering signing my 6 year old son up for a one-week summer camp with this program. Thanks!

My 6 and 8 year olds have been with Batiste Martial Arts for a year now. They love it. Master Batiste and the other instructors are really good with kids. My kids haven't done the camp but regular class is great.

My son did this program 2 years ago when he was between first and second grade and did not like it. He didn't HATE it, but he did not enjoy it or want to go back. I also had some concerns that it didn't seem particularly well-organized. He does Jhoon Rhee TKD and loves it, and their classes are wonderful and he has also done their summer classes and enjoyed them.
