Oh. My. Gosh. |
Wow. That poor woman. I hope the other injured Director survives. I can’t even imagine what Alec is feeling. |
After Brandon Lee’s death, why are blanks still being used? |
Seriously can’t imagine how he feels. What a crazy thing to happen |
I don’t like Alec Baldwin, but I feel for him right now. |
How do blanks work? If you’re firing “blanks,” what are you actually firing? Is a projectile supposed to be expelled from the gun? |
+1 He seems like a blowhard but this is terrible. |
I didn’t know either but found this….seems like they can be just as fatal as a bullet https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blank_(cartridge) |
Wow. How does something like this happen?? |
I'm sure he's unbothered. He's a bad person. |
My understanding is that normally blanks won’t injure someone unless shot at close range. (An actor on a show I liked as a kid accidentally killed himself playing Russian roulette with blanks, thinking it was a goof.). But I think I’ve also heard about dirt or stones getting into guns accidentally, which would be a projectile. Given they were filming in the desert, I wonder if the gun was not stored properly and some small stones got in it.
It seems like still extraordinarily bad luck. My dad had a revolver and used to keep seed shot in it to take to the target range— long story but he once shot a rat at close range with the seed shot and the rat was basically fine, which makes me think it’s extraordinarily bad luck for a small projectile coming out of what was probably a six shooter (old western) to kill someone: I don’t know if it would be significantly worse with a rifle though. |
“ The Santa Fe New Mexican reported Baldwin was seen Thursday outside the sheriff’s office in tears, but attempts to get comment from him were unsuccessful.
“According to investigators, it appears that the scene being filmed involved the use of a prop firearm when it was discharged,” sheriff’s spokesman Juan Rios told the Albuquerque Journal. “Detectives are investigating how and what type of projectile was discharged.” |
That poor woman, may she rest in peace. |
Seems like she was incredibly vibrant and talented. How heartbreaking. If there was negligence involved I hope the person or persons are held responsible. |
