Kids With Special Needs and Disabilities
| We really like our current OT, but are considering switching to ITS in Kensington because it's closer to our 3.5 yo son's new school, and we can have OT and speech at one place. We are just finishing a three week intensive with Teri Kozlowski, and she has recommended Deborah Victor for OT. I'd appreciate any feedback you can offer on this OT, as I don't know anyone who has worked with her. I beleive she also works(or may have worked) at Leaps and Bounds. FYI, my son has a lot of motor and SI issues. I don't have a dx, but several therapists/observers have told me they think he has mild CP. Also, I know that most of the OT at ITS is done in one big room, and wondered how that has worked for people. Thank you so much in advance for your feedback! |
| My daughter has worked with Deborah at another office for about 1 1/2 years. Deborah is absolutely wonderful. She loves my daughter and works very hard to help her. Deborah helps my daughter with her vision processing disorder and sensory issues with some fine motor weaknesses. I don't know anything about ITS, but Deborah is great! |

PP, together we can make a complete piece of feedback.
I don't know Deborah, but have immense respect for Teri K and her practice. If she hires someone, I can have 100% confident they're fantastic. As to the big room, it means that Teri's there on occaision, and can share her amazing insights with the newer therapist (if this is needed, I have no idea if Deborah is actually new). |
| Thanks so much to both PPs. Your feedback was a huge help, and I appreciate you both taking the time to respond. |
| Oops, OP here to claim previous mesage. Thanks again! |

Wanted to chime in - we do OT at ITS. The big room is huge, and often the other child is working at a table while mine is doing gross motor activites, or vice-versa. The table is off to the side and visually the child does not see the other one swinging, etc.
But there is a compatible child there for half my child's session, and the therapists put them together for activities that benefit them both - providing additional sensory stimulus with unexpected motion or requiring them to work together, etc. They both love it. So we have seen a real benefit to the big room. |
| OP here. Thanks, PP, for more valuble information. I love the idea of interacting with another child for part of the session. |
Agree. Our OT at ITS often reports about DC's interaction with another "peer" in the room, and the interaction seems to be very beneficial to both children. |
