Matty and Taylor

Oh man, I think I’m done with TS. I had been a real fan but this is too much baggage. Her music is no longer anything I can relate to. I don’t give a F about Matty Healy.

a new subset of the fandom has been born. retconning reputation as a matty album is absurd. it’s like the haylors believing that red songs are about harry and gaylors believing lover is about karlie.
this is why they call us swifties crazy!

Taylor is smart enough to write in a way that gives only the details she wants to be public. She is a mastermind at many things, maintaining some of her privacy is one thing she has learned to do. After all, the greatest of your luxuries is your secrets.
Anyway, the story isn’t hers anymore.

Reputation is definitely about Matty Healy. That album is not even a question. I am more intrigued by Lover and 1989 at this point.

Endgame:
"We've got big reputations, we'd be a big conversation" - No way this is about Joe. MH & TS sure were a big conversation when they finally got together last spring.
"You so dope, don't overdose" - Matty Healy's heroin addiction in 2014, hello?
"Knew her when I was young, reconnected when we were little bit older" - "rekindled flames", they did that a number of times over the years. First linked in 2014, they must have reconnected when she was writing songs for Reputation.

Don't Blame Me:
"For you, I would cross the line
They'd say, she's gone too far this time
And baby, for you, I would fall from grace
Just to touch your face.
- In "But Daddy I Love Him, she references the same lines: "I'll tell you something about my good name, It's mine alone to disgrace."

Ready For It
"Knew he was a killer first time that I saw him
Wonder how many girls he had loved and left haunted" - "I knew you'd haunt me like a tattoo kiss" - Cardigan
"Some, some boys are tryin' too hard, he don't try at all, though" - lol, this is definitely MH
"Knew I was a robber first time that he saw me" - a nod to the song Robbers by The 1975
"And he can be my jailer, Burton to this Taylor" - Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton are the definition of legendary lovers with a tumultuous history. TS refers to her love with Matty as "legendary" in loml

Dancing With Our Hands Tied:
"I loved you in secret (how is that Joe)
*First sight*, yeah, we love without reason" - the same idea in Loss Of My Life (loml): "If you know it in *one glimpse*, it's legendary.
First sight = One glimpse
"And darling, you had turned my bed into a sacred oasis
People started talking, putting us through our paces
I knew there was no one in the world who could take it
I had a bad feeling" (

There is more. So much more.

Sure there. You can keep posting a million lyrics here but none of it is proof. None.

Isn’t her latest album proof enough though? You think Taylor came undone and fell to her knees because of a two-week “fling”? She called Matt the love and loss of her life and the one thing she wanted, her whole world (i think in Daddy I Love Him). It’s obvious that this love has been going on for a long time.

She also refers to the entire affair as a manic episode (album foreword). It seems like her long term relationship died a slow death and she took solace in a good friend/possible ex. When the long term relationship was officially over, she jumped right into things with him. That man love bombed her and then ghosted. The songs are about the feelings she went through during this manic phase. It doesn’t matter which song is about what man, they are all about her feelings, thoughts and experiences. But the chapter is closed.
I have to give her credit for not editing herself. If I’d fallen that hard for a rebound, I would want to bury that sh!@ and never speak of it again.

Lover is absolutely about Karlie.

Well, it was until it started to hurt my brain. I’m too old to analyze her life. I was a huge fan of every album after 1989 so I’ve always watched threads about her with interest but yeah, signing off…

Oh Caroline on the Being Funny in a Foreign Language album, also Track #5.
Coincidence? I think not. You might want to watch the official videos of the two songs and pay attention to the dance moves

Yes.

He dances *exactly* like her though, and only in that video. He is normally a very good dancer.

I love that video so much. Did you catch the neon sign near the end when the band is old and playing? That’s a nod to her too.

No it’s not. You’re literally searching for random things pretending that they are secret messages.

They are secret messages.

Oh god lady she writes these things knowing in advance people are going to read whatever they want into them that's the whole point. It's not real

If Matty Healy looked at me like this,
I would write a double album about him too and would take him back a hundred times 😂

Don’t tell the fan girls that. They’ll just respond with more lyrics as “proof”.

+1. He looks at me like that and I am having his baby and disgracing my good name too. Total heart robber, this Matty.

Like…it’s just a low-quality clip of him looking at something. The way you two are going on I thought there would be something substantial happening in the video
