DC to Florida - Where to look?

We moved to NE FL and love it. We live a healthy outdoor lifestyle that includes on sight gym, classes, indoor and outdoor pools, biking on trails and beach. Tennis, golf, Pickleball, fishing and so much more.
People are happy and actually smile. If you’re not happy living this lifestyle the problem is not the lifestyle. Wherever you go you take yourself with you.

Our same experience, in a different part of FL, much more diverse and open-minded than anything we experienced back in DC.

Love the bolded 😀🫡

+1000 to two PPs, moved to FL for the outdoor lifestyle and could not be happier with our decision. We were pleasantly surprised at how diverse our city/county ended up being compared to DMV. Don’t miss the concentration of type A narcissists either (ahem, NW DC).

Florida is a very, very, diverse state.

Granted, DC narcissists are the best, nothing like that in FL, not even the NY transplants in WPB. 🙏

TLR but we have family both retirement age and with young age in Pensacola. The young family are unhappy with the state politics and are active at the local level and in supplementing their own kids' education, but generally speaking love the area and quality of life.

The first open house I saw in FL, the realtor lived 3 blocks away from me in NW DC. First upscale date night? Chef is from DC. Unfortunately they are all here, and they are not the best.

It is not a safe place crime is insane.

Prices for housing omg absurd.

My sisters house in 2020 $340,000 now the dumps are selling for a $1 + mold galore

DeSantis isn’t leaving office he will change the Florida constitution term limits. He will not be president. And his Nazi policies will grow his kingdoms will become more of a hellscape

I am not wrong. You aren’t paying attention they wrote it down.

Or you could have a Supreme Court Justice who is hell bent on taking away your freedom as your neighbor. Or you could live in your little gated/guarded slice of paradise where no one cares who you had to sell your soul to so that you could afford your piece of the pie.

The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville is the red headed step child of the Mayo brand. Its focus is research and the healthcare is very subpar. They regularly become unavailable to pts and follow up with a letter stating they refuse to treat them. It is known by locals as a place to stay away from. There are other much safer options in the area.

40a or St. John’s county

It’s lovely in Atlantic. The mayo v,ionic has been a lifesaver (literally) for retired family members in Atlantic Beach.

I am the age of OP and we have a second home in Pelican Bay just north of Naples. I love it, and could easily live there year around. Everyone older than 60 seems to be from the midwest but the remote workers relocating are largely from the northeast. I'd also look in Sarasota.

So many good places to move to in FL OP why not take a tour trip and visit the top 3-5. Its such a big state with a lot of great places to offer.

GAH! NO NO NO NO NO NO.

Gulf Coast of FL is for Midwesterners.

East Coast is for DC, NY, NJ and NE people.

Get thee to Boca or Lauderdale and stay there.

Please don't f*ck up the last nice thing that we have left.
