Dr. Alalouf - How can anyone possibly still trust this guy?

Anonymous
Old thread was getting out of control:

Let's stick to the facts:

1. Dr.A has a Disney Type Atmosphere
2. Dr. A made my kids feel comfortable
3. Dr. Alalouf agreed to a one year suspension of his license.
4. Alalouf, had his license suspended for performing "extensive dental treatment without clinical justification," at times without authorization from parents.
5. If he completes a series of courses and exams, the suspension will be shortened.
6. If we continue the fantasy that sitting in ethics class will "cure" recurrent violations by mature clinicians we will give ethics education a bad name and fail in our responsibility to protect the public.
7. In June, 2008 this company's membership in the BBB was revoked by the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau due to failure to maintain the principles and standards required for membership.

I'm shocked that anyone would start a new thread. THe facts your stating were repeated over and over in the old one. We should of let that thread die as well as this one. If people want to go to him, go, if not don't go.

I don't know anything about Dr. Alalouf and was also mystified by the long thread that would not die, but I'm guessing that the poster who keeps it alive has had a child worked on by him?? I can tell you from first hand experience that having unneccesary dental work done on you is a complete and total violation. I had really, really bad and unnessecary dental work done on my teeth when I was in my 20's. When i finally had it redone in my 30's, the dentist said, "did you get this work done in a third world country? Because your blood is mixed in with the filling material and we don't usually see that kind of work in this country." Examining the X rays showed that the deep, deep, DEEP fillings weren't even necessary -- there were no cavities there. I can tell you that it took me YEARS to trust a dentist or a doctor again. If you've never experienced this, it might be hard to imagine how horrifying it is to think that someone you trust with your health could do this to you because they needed make thier car payment that month or whatever their financial issue was. I can imagine that if someone did something like that to my child, I would be like a dog with a bone, too. I would put a banner in my front yard -- or post on DCUM over and over and over. (I'm not that poster; this is my first foray into the Dr. Alalouf saga.) Just my two cents.

I personally think someone like him should be behind bars. Unnecessary general anesthesia and filling non-existing cavities (drilling them first, I suppose) on little children, that's just twisted and dangerous. But that's just me. A mother becomes a lioness when her children are hurt and I suppose some of the posters are in those shoes.

I'm a former client of Dr. Alalouf and I never had any problems. However, doctors can be like auto mechanics. They can do unnecessary work and the insurance companies never know. I used to work for a doctors office and I can tell you that they get compensated very well by the insurance companies and they know it. It sounds to me like he was caught but I'm sure many doctors do it and don't get caught.

regarding legal threats against DCUM.

In no way am I asking anyone to curtail their posts on this topic. However, there are a few points that I want clearly understood:

1) I don't like anonymous posters attacking named individuals. I am less concerned about that with regard to Dr. Alalouf given the public nature of the charges about him. However, his wife is a different story. As far as I know, no legal action has been taken against her. Therefore, if you think posting critical information about her is relevant, you are going to have to attach your name to the post. In this regard, I will be removing some messages from this thread.

2) All posters should be aware that if compelled by legal action, we will cooperate in providing identifying information about the authors of messages. Sorry, but I'm not pulling a Judith Miller to protect an anonymous poster. Be forewarned, some of you are posting from easily identifiable addresses.

3) Maria and I make our own decisions regarding the moderation of messages. We do it according to our own criteria and within our own timeframe. Dr. Alalouf's lawyer does not play a role in moderating messages in this forum.

This Dr. Alalouf has some nerve threating to sue you (or us)... I agree his wife should of been left out of the conversation.

He should worry about his ethics class and less about what people are saying. Everyone is going to think about this for as long as he has a practice in this area. And yes there may be people like me here to remind everyone.

Hey Jeff, way to go, man. Loved your letter and response. Don't let them bully you. You have always stood up to the anonymous poster, even if you were in the minority to protect named individuals. I have followed it closely. You have always shown good moral compass in not letting someone get thrown under the bus. I'm behind you and you have thousands on this site behind. By the way, loved your line to the lawyer about it not helping her client's reputation. If you ever need a witness on anything, as you know I'm here alot and you know how to reach me.

Way to go jeff but I'd really like to keep this Discussion about DR. Alalouf

Also, I don't think stating facts is a crime. Dr.Alalouf was found guilty (he signed the document) in regards to mistreating a child with autism.

I think it is Ironic that his wife ran in a "race for autism"....

Again this is a FACT!

If they didn't want to be talked about they shouldn't of done what they did...

Right on, PP. Dr. A should have worried ahead of time about the consequences of what he did and how this would affect his future professional and personal life. Character assassination by the posters? I think not. I think he assassinated his own character. What his lawyer is asking is ridiculous. Stop all threads about him? What about dozens of other threads outside of this site where people voice their opinions? Dr. A would need a team of police-lawyers to stop everything that is said.

I think all this comes from a lot of angered parents who can't believe this happening for years in our community. In any scandal of this proportion, one always wonders about the person's spouse, their potential involvement or lack of involvement, about whetehr they knew and so forth; why is this any different?

Anyway, back to the facts: now that we're reminded by Dr. A's lawyer that there are legal consequences to a person’s actions, I think parents of affected children should sue him and hopefully, he'll be affected to what seems to matters most: his money.

Jeff, please don’t kill the threads/posts, unless they are untrue. They should continue for as long as parents feel they should express their opinions, which I think it'll be for as long as Dr. A continues to practice and be near children.

I just read that letter from the attorney.

What a joke! I hope he didn't have to pay for that letter.

Malicious gossip and character ? Please

He signed the consent form. He did work that was unnecessary to an autistic child.

She ran in an autistic race? THESE ARE FACTS NOT MALICIOUS ATTACKS..

He made his own bed let him lay in it.

As Allen Iverson once said "We talkin about PRACTICE"

Dr. Alalouf's practice included his wife working there at one time. There's no slandering going on here.

Clearly, the attorney that wrote the letter was trying to scare Jeff but he clearly was amused as most of us are.

Bottom line, don't do wrong to others and not expect it come back to haunt you. He's getting what he deserves.

I'm sorry but i have to break down this attorneys letter (Was it really written by a lawyer?)

1 .OF course there are going to be attacks on him......
2. Dr.Alalouf has been pillored, with good reason BUT we have heard people defending him as well (that's what makes this forum so great!)
3. There has been NO ATTACKS of his wife ( Just that she's now a school teacher, not an attack, Ran in an autistic run, knowing full well her husband has signed a consent form for doing unnecessary dental work on an AUTISTIC CHILD!!!
4. Stating that my wife would of left me for doing what he did is an opinion, not an attack
5. According to this "attorney" we've posted "insulting, abusive, defamatory and invasive of privacy." posts about Dr.Alalouf (i'm glad the attorney, Dr.Alalouf and wife see the facts that way....It might mean he's learned from this experience.
6. Stating what he did to innocent children as being hateful, that's good that maybe he understnads now what he did.... I'm so glad the attorney and Dr.Alalouf feel this way
7. Dr. Alalouf signed the consent form instead of fighting it because his sentence probably would of been worse. Here comes an opinion attorney not a fact, please don't sue, BUT if i was accused of all these allegatioins I would of fought tooth (no pun intended) and nail to clear my name..
8. I've saved the best for last. From the "attorney".."... It has absolutely nothing to do with parenting." PLEASE this is a dentist who works on children. We all want what's in the best interest of our children

There is no thought in what this attorney wrote. There are more holes it in than swiss cheese.

I'm not even an attorney and I could beat them in court...

Facts:

1. Dr. Alalouf's practice lost maybe 15% of patients due to this "circus". Do the math, that leaves 85% of satisfied patients. Sorry this is upsetting to some, but shows true charcter to who he is.

2. Dr. Alalouf will be returning to practice on Sept. 2nd, treating each patient with the kindness, skill and demeanor as always (yay for Dr. A)

3. DR. ALALOUFS practice is still thriving

4. Yes- Dr. Alaouf signed the consent, I really wonder how many people would have opted not to knowing it could cost him millions of dollars to take to trial. PP--easy for you to talk talk talk..........put your wallet where your mouth is.

5. Dr. Alaloufs wife ran the race for Autism-kudos to her, atleast you guys got something right.

I understand Jeff not wanting to back down now that he feels as though he has been "attacked" but what Jeff doesnt know is Dr. A is just trying to protect his family. It really bothers me that he reacted in such a defensive manner, however, its his site.

I'm not surprised that people defend Dr. A like you do. You probably support Guantanimo Bay inmates as well. Always looking out for the rights of the people that do wrong. Do you defend Osama Bin Laden as well?

Dr. A took advantage of children. He's a criminal. How can you defend that?
