Vulvodynia/urinary symptoms

Anonymous
I have vulvodynia which started after a bad UTI and a kidney stone! The issue is my nerves feel inflamed...it's hard to explain but it produces a sense of needing to urinate when I do not need to. But it is not in the bladder. It is in the urethra/labia area. It will go away for a while especially with PT but then comes roaring back. It's worse at night. For example I recently took a six-hour plane ride and didn't need to pee once.
Last night in bed I woke up three times with the urge.
Has anyone else experienced this and had luck with - something? Thanks.

I know you said not bladder, but have you tried a eliminating foods and drinks that are known potential bladder irritants to see if it makes a difference? For me sometimes carbonated drinks are problematic.

To try either gabapentin or amitryptiline.

+ for gabapentin - it has a calming, muscle relaxing effect and will help you get a good nights sleep. I take 200mg at night. good luck -

Vaginal estrogen has helped a lot with my urinary symptoms that were similar to what you describe. It was reduced the number of times I’m getting up to pee at night.
